Adobe Creative Cloud Overprice?

Question

I'm a graphic designer and have always use Adobe products when it came to layout, photos, illustrations and web coding. It's the standard software that you will need to use if you want to do anything in the field. No one can will hire you if you don't know them in and out. To me, I can't justify paying $50 a month for it when other software in the market Office, Windows, Mac OS are all dropping down in price. Plus the return in design work has drop so much in the pass 5 years it's not even funny. Template being almost free if using the month web/print services.

The sweet spot would be around $10 to $20 a month for the software. What are you thoughts on this?

Adobe (noun) - Creator of overpriced bug laden software.

What? I have used Photoshop since version 2, and I would hardly describe it as bug laden software.

As far as the price, their Cloud service is a complete joke unless you use all the software as someone else said. If not, it pays to purchase the more specific suites they sell, like the Design Suite, or the Web Suite, or whatever they are called. You can also find them at decent prices if you search around. Especially the upgrade packages.

I don't think you should compare the $20 upgrade for mountain lion with the price of Adobe creative cloud because Apple makes its main source of income from sold hardware. That's why they can charge so little for the software. Similarly, windows 8 was cheap for upgrades but by this month, the prices has risen to its usual prices. Furthermore, Apple and Microsoft are ten times richer than Adobe. Adobe gets all of its income from only one source: software unlike microsoft and apple. the $50 fee is right for the master suite and plus you get the beta apps like Edge code etc. which will come in the next version of CS7. However, I think they should provide a subscription model for only design tools or web tools or video production tools. Not every designer/developer needs all of the software though.

The beta version are free to everyone not just for the cloud users.

Plus, Adobe software is very is to pirated and I know about 20 people who just does not pay for it just because how expensive they are. I'm lucky enough that I got my company to buy the software for me.

I think that if I was a Graphics designer by trade I would pay for it (mot referring to you but your friends)

How is it overpriced? Even at $80 a month, you get the master collection. Lets see here....master collection is $2,150 on Amazon. at even $80/month, it will take 26 months TOTAL (at $80 a month you can cancel any month) to reach the cost of Master Collection.

Photoshop alone is $560 on Amazon right now. The Single Application plan of Creative Cloud is $20/month. It will take 28 months to reach the full price of Photoshop.

Remember, you are getting Master Collection (unless you choose the Single Application plan).

Yeah, the cloud pricing is crazy unless you *need* everything.

Adobe have always been able to justify the price of their software because it's so damn feature packed. No single person will EVER need to use every feature/plugin that Photoshop has - but everything is there if/when you need it. Plus, Photoshop is probably the one piece of software I've bought that's paid for itself.

I'm far more productive in Photoshop than in any similar app (I tried pixelmator but found it to be horrific). I've never been a fan of Adobe's video/audio editing products (I prefer Final Cut and Logic), but for design, in my opinion, they are unlikely to be beaten for a long time.

If you purchase THe Master Collection at whatever price, it can be written of on your taxes.[if you are a graphics designer by trade] If you rent it..not so sure.

You should be able to for the Cloud Membership for Business. If not well there is one advantage to buying the collection right away.

It's still a recurring business expense, just like a business phone line, etc. All of it can be put down as business expenses for tax purposes.

As to the price, I pay $29.99 a month for Creative Cloud and get fully reimbursed from work. Considering they release a new CS every other year, it's cheaper for me to subscribe and stay current. I used to buy the suites outright, but their upgrade pricing started getting out of hand so I found the Creative Cloud to be a better deal.

I use the Creative Cloud edition of Photoshop and am very happy with the price, especially considering how much extra retail Adobe software costs in NZ over what it costs in the US.

Do you know anyone in education? because you get a significant discount.

I'm paying ?22/month for it at the minute and personally think its worth every penny.. it's not just the software, you get features that non-members don't, 20gb online storage, free website hosting, full access to TypeKit.. the list goes on..

    • DriversCloud 12.1.6 by Razvan Serea With DriversCloud (formerly My-Config.com), you can explore your computer easily, safely and free. The application quickly scans your PC and identifies the hardware and software components. DriversCloud then establishes a list of the different drivers compatible with your OS and hardware. Download the drivers needed for the proper functioning of your computer. To detect your drivers, DriversCloud also displays a detailed summary of your hardware and software configuration, analyzes your BSOD, monitors in real-time your PC voltages and temperatures and lets you share your configuration online. Once the hardware components have been detected, you will be able to obtain with just a few clicks the latest drivers corresponding to the identified hardware. You can record your configuration on the site for free, and can get the corresponding URL to post the configuration to technical forums, e-mail and social networks. You can also download the detection result (the configuration) as a PDF file. To protect the user's privacy and data confidentiality, a 4-level confidentiality system was created that filters the XML marks and gives control to the user. The default level can be modified in the preferences. Using the maximum level will prevent the user from publishing his configuration and generating a corresponding PDF file. In non-connected mode, each XML configuration is stored on the server for one day (for practical reasons). However, you are given the opportunity to manually delete it. Created in 2004, and continually improved, My-Config.com has established itself on the web as a free service to PC users running Windows and Linux operating systems. The service is designed to work with the most common Internet browsers (Edge, Firefox, Chrome, Safari).
