As everyone is probably aware Internet Explorer 10 was released for windows 7 (both 32 and 64Bit variants) earlier in the week along with another update to Adobe flash (11.6.602.171).

Now i was looking forward to this release as IE10 runs pretty good on my windows 8 box, and i thought it may be a bit faster on windows 7 what with the improved javascript and standards compliance, etc.

Anyway after installing/updating (both IE10 and and Flash) on my 64Bit windows 7 box i wen`t to a play a few facebook games (namely Bejeweled and Zuma) and the performance was terrible. The games were lagging really badly to the point where they were allmost unplayable. At first i thought it may be on there end so fired up Fx and no problems.

Has anyone else seen this type of degradation when upadting to IE10 from 9 on 64 Bit windows 7? Iv`e since reverted back to a previous image with IE9 installed, updated flash to the latest and all seems fine. No add-ons installed just TPL from fanboy which i disabled with no difference!

So how are others finding IE10 on windows 7 64Bit? I also have a 32Bit box which i haven`t fired up since the update wen`t live so would like to see if anyone is having any issues with 32Bit as well.

Maybe it`s just me :( Any ideas?

Cheers,

Performance of IE and Flash is still highly driver+browser-dependent - the different Flash controls/plug-ins act differently in their respective browsers. IE 10 desktop acts different than the ModernUI version, which acts different from Chrome, which acts different from Firefox - and that is just Windows 8 with the Catalyst 13.2 beta 6 driver from AMD. Then you also have site-driven Flash dependencies - which really does NOT help the situation any.

Installed it simply as I like to keep system software current but I still do day to day browsing with Chrome so I can't comment on it's efficacy but it's working fine and I had no trouble installing.

Riggers, have you got the GPU option enabled in Internet Explorer? Maybe you disabled it previously, and it's enabled now or vice versa.

Have you tried updating your graphics card driver?

My mums laptop cannot handle gumtree at all, and I have to force via registry the uncheck of the GPU in IE, it's still a bit laggy but was unusable before

I ahve it installed the day it came out and love it. Its fast and the ui seems a bit smoother rather than ie9. Spell check is also a plus. Never realized how much mistakes I make :s

Spellchecker still needs some improvements though

Thanks all, may give it another blast just to see as i do like my software up to date.

@Dan, shouldn`t be anything to do with GPU acceleration, iv`e a Radeon 6870 with CCC 13.1 but i`ll give it a try if a reinstall performs the same way. What cheeses me off is the Windows 8 version flies (both modrn and destop)!

I definitely like it more than previous versions.

I would have used the alpha that was released a long time ago if it had buttons on it, but was very limited.

I'm sure there's a lot of people that use Win 8 with IE 10 that probably didn't even know that IE 10 was released for Win 7 long before Win 8 even came out.

Seems kinda weird that it then took so long for MS to release it again for Win 7.

Well iv`e installed Internet Explorer 10 successfully on my Windows 7 32Bit box, updated flash to the latest and again it`s a complete dog on some pages. Going to revert back to a previous image with IE9 just to see. Maybe it`s just the pages aren`t optimized for IE10 yet :(

Hopefully they`ll (MSFT) bring out some stability patches soon.

    • draw.io Desktop 30.2.4 by Razvan Serea draw.io desktop is a downloadable security-first diagramming application that runs on Windows, MacOS and Linux. Creating diagrams in the desktop app doesn’t need an internet connection. This is useful when you are disconnected or when you must create diagrams in a highly secure environment, where data protection is of the utmost importance. When you use the draw.io desktop app, your diagrams will be stored on your local device. Because this is a stand-alone application, also designed to run offline, there are no interfaces to cloud storage platforms available. Of course, you can still store your diagrams in folders that are synchronised to your cloud storage if you wish. Easy-to-use diagram editor The draw.io apps work just like the office and drawing tools you are used to using. Drag and drop shapes from the shape libraries and drag to draw connectors between them. Drag connectors to add waypoints and set a precise shape and position, or let them reroute automatically. Double click and start typing to add a label to anything. Create tables and swimlane flows with a familiar tool. Style shapes and connectors with customisable palettes, sketch options, fonts and text formatting tools. Search for shapes, including in open-source icon libraries. Use our vast libraries of shapes and templates, organised into logical categories, to create a range of diagrams and infographics.
