Erm...not sure why you mentioned 'pledged' when they were free, and it covered most of their catalog not just those titles.

So yeah sales are totally inane and we should mock everyone who has them.

The FREE games covered most of their catalog? OK, lol, yup, whatever lol

That is why you also plop a Dormitory (an option for the University, but NOT one for the Community College) - if you are adding one or more Schools (Business, Science, or Engineering), definitely plop the Dorm.

I usually have the University near City Hall (and Central High School) to ease commuting woes. (I leave space between the Residential and Commercial Districts for Town/City Hall, and the University - the first high school is just south of here at the edge of the primary residential area. Additional residence districts are east and west - like the wings of a phoenix.)

I have found that less is more in this game. I have 0 industry in my factory towns. The factories provide the jobs. As a result, my cities cap at 125k pop but making 2mil a month. The overall effect is less pop, less traffic, less jams, more resources moving around, more profits. What is interesting is that with a minimum amount of commercial buildings, 0 industry buildings, and nothing but factories, I still have a worker shortage. One of the reasons my setup works though is I have another neowin member playing the region with me. I get all my freight for commercial business from his factories and he leeches off my fully upgraded industries like my full nuke plant and 2 recycling centers.

That being said, we are looking for more players if anyone is interested. We have just about everything unlocked for the region other than 2 projects and oil stuff.

It did here. I have no idea what it was like for you.

So EA offered ALL the 'top' games in their catalog, for FREE?

No. They cherry picked the crap, and then shoved the same crap on 75% off deal the next week, you know, the way EA does, but just to rub it in a little more, they throw in Simcity 4, for a laugh, well, why not? Nothing like a little more salt in the wounds is there?

I doubt the worst company in America is the one selling video games to overly sensitive narcissistic annoying kids.

There are companies out there slaughtering baby seals just for their skins, and even worst.

Your "cause" is stupid, and you're not a victim.

We get it, you don't like EA or simcity. Move on.

I don't mind the baby seal thing anyway.

But if we stick to purely gaming companies, EA is among the best companies out there as far as the big publishers go at any rate. All the ther big publishers are worst, granted there's pretty much just three of them, EA, Ubi, and Activision. there's another one, but they're comparatively small, and their sub divisions keep going bankrupt.

Apart from scaramonga acting like a complete douche troll, he is kind of right on the EA thing.

There's a reason they're called "The Evil Empire" (capitalisation for emphasis).

The Zero Punctuation review rather hammers home why that's so in this case >.>

There's a reason they're called "The Evil Empire" (capitalisation for emphasis).

When Ubisoft repeatedly has issues with even playing single player for a week after launch, people forget about it after a few weeks. When Activison doesn't even bother putting resources into PC development and Blizzard repeatedly screws up their online only launches, it's ok because everyone wants their stuff. When EA does something wrong people will be bitching about it for ten years or more (hell I have friends still bitching about them killing Ultima.)

It gets a little ridiculous.

You realise the problem with your position is that you are in such a minority that you're the guy on the inside accusing every body else of being crazy..

People remember the other companies ****ups. The reason people keep bringing up EAs is that they do it repeatedly whilst showing blistering contempt for their users.

Other companies do it too (Ubisoft is a good example) but not with the dedication and regularity EA ass it up.

Anyone else have this problem? Every single time I start SimCity I have to do the stupid tutorial...... EVERY FREAKING TIME! *RIPS HAIR OUT*

on top of that, no mater how long I play, every time I exit, I get some stuff wasn't synced with the server... why doesn't it do a sync as the last action of a game exist?!

I don't get the tutorial everytime but I do get the some stuff wasn't synced with the server when I exit.

It should only be the first time you load up a server, so that's odd. (Unfortunately starts up for every server seperately, not just one time.)

The tutorial should only start everytime you switch your server. If for some reason all of your server information is lost, that could cause that. If you don't let the game sync for example, it can corrupt your game and make the server think you don't have any legitmate saves on the server. That makes you a new player and means you have to do the tutorial.

For your synced question, you have to remember that the game is trying to constantly sync but not every second or that would just make the server issues worse. It does it every few seconds or minutes. I don't know what the timer is but it is long enough that you can unplug your internet and the game will continue for a bit before complaining. If there is a heavy server load, it takes longer to sync, so the chances of that message appearing goes up when you exit. There are times where I see it every time such as in the evening. During those same times, the chat in the region has a 5-10 second delay. During the middle of the day when less people are playing due to school/work, I have neither the sync issue or the chat issue. Just always make sure you don't close out the program without letting it sync first. It is the easiest way to completely lose your city.

    • KillerPDF 1.5.1 by Razvan Serea KillerPDF is a lightweight, portable PDF editor for Windows built for users who want full control without subscriptions, installers, or telemetry. It runs as a single executable, making it ideal for USB use and field work. You can view PDFs with smooth PDFium rendering, navigate quickly with thumbnails, zoom, and shortcuts, and reorganize pages using drag-and-drop. It supports merging multiple PDFs, splitting documents, and extracting selected pages. KillerPDF also allows inline text editing with font matching to preserve the original layout, plus annotations like text boxes, freehand drawing, highlights, and reusable signatures. You can search full text, copy content easily, and print documents with flattened annotations. Designed as a free and open alternative to bloated PDF tools, it works fully offline on Windows 10/11 x64. No runtimes install. Everything needed is inside the EXE (targets .NET Framework 4.8, which ships with every supported Windows release). KillerPDF key features: High-quality PDF rendering via PDFium Edit PDF text inline (double-click to modify text) Page thumbnails and fast navigation with zoom and shortcuts Merge multiple PDFs into one Split PDFs and extract selected pages Drag-and-drop page reordering Font matching to preserve original document appearance Text boxes for notes Freehand drawing tools Highlight overlays with adjustable color, size, opacity Undo actions and clear per-page annotations Create, draw, and save reusable signatures Click-to-place signatures anywhere Full-text search with highlighted results Drag-select or Ctrl+A to copy text Print with annotations flattened Portable single-file app (~10 MB) No installer, no admin rights required No account, no telemetry KillerPDF 1.5.1 changelog: Performance Save Flattened PDF now uses multiple CPU cores. Page rasterization is parallelized (PNG encoding runs across cores; the PDFium render step stays serialized since the library isn't thread-safe), so large documents flatten significantly faster while the UI stays responsive (#68). Fixed PDFs that failed to open with "Unexpected EOF" now open (#72). The failure was PdfSharpCore's Flate inflater (SharpZipLib) rejecting the FlateDecode cross-reference stream on multi-revision PDFs - files that open fine in browsers, Acrobat, and Foxit. KillerPDF now detects this and re-opens the file losslessly through PDFium, preserving selectable text. Thanks to @javajon for the report and a detailed reproduction. Grid view renders every page. It was capped at the first 26 pages, so longer documents stopped loading partway through. Tiles also stream in progressively now instead of blocking until the whole document is rendered. Grid Ctrl+Scroll no longer reloads every page when the zoom is already at its limit and nothing would change. Removed a stray horizontal scrollbar (a thin green line) that could appear across the bottom of grid view. Files on UNC / network shares (including the WSL \\wsl$ filesystem) are copied locally before opening, avoiding partial-read failures on network filesystems. Changed Minimum zoom lowered from 10% to 5%, so grid view can pack more columns (helpful for wide/landscape pages) and single-page view can zoom out further.
