Hi all,

I currently have a computer I built in 2008 (Intel Q9450, 4GB DDR2, GTX 260, Samsung 830 128GB SSD) it still performs reasonably well but a few things are making me consider doing a new build. The GFX card is going faulty, I want a smaller case, front USB3 ports, more RAM and a larger SSD... I could upgrade/fix these on the existing build, but it would only cost about ?300-350 extra to do a complete new build.

It's used for development (work), animation (hobby) and light gaming. One of my main concerns is I need it to be as quiet as possible, these are the parts I was thinking so far:

note: I know the SSD has slower write speeds (~260MB/s) but I've had such bad experiences with the OCZ Vertex 3 / OCZ Agility 4 both at home and at work I wouldn't touch them again, and others are quite a bit more expensive.

Would it be a worthwhile upgrade over what I have already, or should I just upgrade/fix the old build? Are there any parts you would change in the new the build?

Thanks in advance.

I would say go with your new build and sell your old one to help pay for the new one..

Your new build seems real good for your use and it will last longer than your other build.

The thing about SSDs they are getting cheaper, so soon we all can find some cheaper.
