I remember when I first started using the internet, we had AOL and it automatically loaded in AIM whenever you used the online service. So that was my messenger for a really long time.

Then I switched to MSN down the line.. as I figured out my British friends tended to use it. My American friends in general had AIM.

When I got a Mac I switched over to using Adium as my client...

... and I uninstalled it a couple of days ago. I've had IM programs open at all times on my computers since.. 2000? Maybe? Really is the end of an era!

Also, when MS do finally shut it off, I won't be able to chat to anyone during those quiet moments at work anymore. Skype is banned at work and will remain so permanently, because of the P2P issues.
