Cool, maybe I'll include it with the other 2 Screenies. :)

Hey I just got a great little idea for a change. How about making the boxes on the installation menu grey out when they are not expanded and some of the options are unchecked? That way a user can know at a glance if a whole tree is selected or only parts of that tree.

Yeah, I was talkin' to Raptor about that... we'll see what we can do. :D Anywho, I'm off to bed... be good everyone! ;)

No problem ^_^

I would like to knew whether it is possible to use ASCII codes in the .dat file! Specifically for using danish letters in the text. Currently when i type one of the three different unique letters in danish, the result is a weird looking greek numeral. Can I use ascii codes to replace the letters, and get a decent result?

was wonderin if there were any plans on includeing the visualbasic librarys? and other required .dll .ocx 's ... etc...

tabctrl.ocx richedit.ocx ? ? yadda yadda yadda..

dont worry... AutoPatcher will automatically copy the three OCX files it need onto the user's system folder :D... But i dunno about the rest... Ill prolly look around and might come up with a list of some control libraries for VB based apps

/Raptor

No, nobody is working on it even though I said I could help :o

thats prolly because i said you have to form a small group... i dont think you can possibly manage to carry out the whole thing... next step is to make a topic about it.. i.e AutoPatcher Windows 2000 Group, form a team and then work with me and flishfun, so we can glue everything together...

Unfortunately the VB6 version of the treeview control does not support it... I hope this changes when SP6 comes out for VB6... but for the time being, VB6 SP5 looks very old with outdated controls... I will still look into it and i might be able to find an alternative way to do this... who knows...

cool

Wouldn't that be illegal to do. It's a product that while it's a good idea, none of it belongs to Autopatcher XP compilers. I am not against it, but it's not a wise idea to charge for the discs. I think this is a good product. If someone wants this on a cd, they should find a friend with broadband and burn a copy from that friend.. Just a suggestion, I am not a player hater!

AutoPatcher show you that, because all the labelsand texts use the Greek Script (hey, I live in Greece, can't possibly refuse to install support for it hehe)... If you want to help make a danish version of AutoPatcher, form a small group which will find all equivelant updates and then I will just make a new .exe for you. And if you want, you might be able to supply Danish translations of all the labels...

we will look into this...

What about some generic drivers.... ATiCatalyst, NForce?

I know its a bit more difficult with drivers, as everyone has a different setup... but as of late, some of the main drivers are all in ones, for all cards of a particular chipset.

Probably in practice, its not a good idea? Just a thought!!!

You really need to get on MSN Messenger. ;) I'll get you started. :D

ok, i would like very much to be involved but i do NOT program any way i would likes 2 learn vb6 hopefully in the short future.

as for batch programming i am very good, and for gathering updates i am available also if used CD Dispatch i can do no problem if anybody is intrested to UK only.

please PM me your MSN Signin name and i will add you that way we can discuss more.

The charging wouldn't be for the components of the program. You'd be paying for the shipping, the CD, and a little bit (maybe 50 cents) to the AP itself. You're not buyin' the updates, you're buying the convinience, and as long as that's noted on the site (which it will be), it shouldn't be illegal. :)

Hello All,

I'm just adding my 2-Cents here, so don't start to criticise etc.

- First the AP should be mainly about Windows Updates and Windows related issue.

- The Java and Direct X are excluded from what I mentioned above.

- I think that Flash should be included in the new pack and any other really necessary stuff.

- I think it should contain as many registry tweaks as possible. (http://www.tweakxp.com) Everytime I format my HD, I spend about 1 hour on this site tweaking my system with the tweaks that are worth it.

- I agree with those who posted that you should have a main set and then the goodies set.

- AP should also have the option to state or diable the updates that are already installed.

- Maybe it can have the option to reverse what you included.

Example: I installed Msn 6.1.0.555 or whatever when I ran AP. Now I don't want Msn 6.1.0.55 again. I'll then launch AP, choose the option to remove msn 6.1.0.555 (I've seen this with Symantec products, like Systemworks.

===================================

- Maybe you can also create some script or application that can let users make Neowin_unattended_CD_Guide_for_XP (This can be a separate project)

This is what I had in mind. My imagination can be wild so bare with me. :D

A user download some type of app or script.

He runs it.

A pop up screen appears stating to insert your Windows XP CD into the drive.

The app then creates a folder on the HD, copies the Windows Xp files etc.

It also copies all the possible updates that MS has sent out. (the user will need to have AP application if they'd like the updates to be installed directly when installing Windows XP)

Once completed, it will state how the total size of everything and tell you how many cd-r(s) you'll need, and then you can burn your New Windows XP Unattended CD with all the available updates from the version of AP that the user has).

Maybe in the new version or something, you can install a free cd burning app or something to assist with that creative task. Who knows?

Now don't I have a wild imagination? :D

Hey,

Me again. I forgot one more thing for the December update.

An option to have the Internet Connection Firewall (ICF) enabled on all Network Connectiong... I saw this on Windows Update, and maybe an option to disable file/printer sharing.

LIVESOCA

Hey, I think everyone overlooked bandwidth. He'll need distributers and mirrors.

    • I am one of the first people to use the DXVK technology. In the channel below you can see some videos that I have made using this technology, including Assassin's Creed Odyssey. https://www.youtube.com/@nahum7995/videos Assassin's Creed Odyssey experienced several bugs and technical issues during its first months after release. It launched with its own fair share of funny but frustrating glitches. I ran it on DXVK 9 days after its release and I played it for many hours but didn't see a single significant bug on Linux. Assassin's Creed Odyssey is widely celebrated for pushing the franchise in bold new directions and specifically for nailing several elements better than any other title in the AC series: Player Choice & Branching Narrative, The Mercenary & Cultist System, Mythological Integration, Overpowered Combat Abilities, Open World Exploration But what I'm trying to point out is that this game wasn't quite playable on most windows systems, until a few months after its release when most of the bugs were fixed. However, on Linux it ran completely flawless from day one, although DXVK had seen little development and refinement at the time. What do you think the situation will be in 2026 now that most bugs and glitches of DXVK have been completely eliminated? This is information from Google about these situations that I am quoting. In many cases, using DXVK (a translation layer that converts DirectX 9, 10, or 11 into Vulkan) can result in more stable frame times and higher performance than native Windows rendering. This happens primarily by bypassing driver overhead and multithreading draw calls that were previously restricted to a single CPU core. Older APIs (like DirectX 9 and 11) are largely single-threaded on the CPU side. DXVK translates these calls to Vulkan, which is highly multi-threaded. This reduces CPU-bound stuttering on weaker processors. In certain cases, GPU manufacturers (especially AMD) have significantly better and more modern Vulkan drivers than they do for legacy DirectX. Vulkan gives developers—and in this case, the translation layer—closer control over how resources are held in VRAM. This can prevent micro-stutters and sudden frame drops during chaotic gameplay. Yes, certain games, particularly older DirectX 9 to 11 titles, can run with fewer crashes on DXVK than on native Windows. By intercepting DirectX draw calls and translating them into the modern, highly efficient Vulkan API, DXVK bypasses the limitations and poor driver support that cause instability in aging game engines. PlayStation 1, PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3 can be easily and perfectly emulated on Linux. In fact, modern Linux emulators offer high-performance upscaling, widescreen patches, and automatic controller mapping out of the box.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 PlayStation 1/2/3 games look drastically better on Linux thanks to resolution upscaling. Furthermore, it is also a fact that you cannot play many fun games on Windows either, isn't it? - The Nintendo Switch has an extensive library of exclusive games. - PlayStation has an extensive library of exclusive games - Android has "mobile-exclusive" games, meaning they are exclusive to mobile devices (iOS and Android) and aren't available on PC or consoles. And finally, it is also the case that in the next five years there will be games that millions of people will say you absolutely must play and that they want to play this specific game that released a few days ago. However, the other side of this story is that currently, absolutely no one cares that they cannot play these upcoming games right now.
