Awwww..... you added MPlus! into your package... why not MyIE2? :D

myIE2 is a great enhancement for I.E. 6.... it improves your browsing habbit!!!! I think MyIE2 worth more than MPlus! Not saying MPlus! is bad (infact, I'm an alpha tester and a translator for MPlus!), but MyIE2 is as crucial as MPlus! :D :D

So..... me beg you to consider adding MyIE2....

I hate MyIE2, not to say its bad or anything, and it would let me down and many others here if this type of thing was getting added to the package. Again there is a way to customize the package with some addons of your own, so I suggest looking into it because I know this will not be included.

Well I looked into it. I won't be including MyIE2 in the Dec Update. I may include it in the Bonus pack... not for sure yet. But if I don't, you can always do like AgEnTsMiTh said and just make a custom install. :)

I would suggest MyIE2 isnt included in the bonus pack either... I believe there are other small proggies which are accepted by more people... i.e look out for some handy free shell extensions, control panel items and such...

As for Total copy, maybe you should take a look also to

Well you know that, and I know that... but Windows Update seems to forget it... that's why it's in there. I've tried it without and it will still say I need it for some reason. lol

Automatically remove QoS from the networking properties.

Disable 'Automatically Restart' from the Startup & Recovery section of the System Properties.

Disable DCOM!

Disable 'Hide Inactive Icons'

Show the regular Control Panel by default

Set the Internet Temp folder size to 30MB or less.

Disable Hibernate and Suspend modes.

Delete "Compress Old Files" from registry (hint: http://www2.whidbey.com/djdenham/DeleteOldFiles.htm)

Remove/Disable MSN Messenger (hint: http://www.dougknox.com/xp/utils/xp_mess_disable.htm)

This looks like a great utility! Keep up the great work!

Flish... I couldn't agree more with these... especially the ie temp folder size...

Maybe even these off the top of my head...

option of new or old start menu look...

sound scheme to off (or atleast turn off the ie browsing "click")...

autostart task manager minimized in the taskbar...

enable network connection icon in the taskbar...

adobe acrobat 5 (i personally think this is a must for most ppl, and yes i realize the size)...

i personally use pdf995 for a pdf writer. Maybe there is a different one others could recommend.

turn off some default services off... i will have to research this more and make a list up later...

yeah good suggestions :) because after a fresh install i do almost all those things, i install winxp, patches, drivers, then start deleting the unneccessary services and removing the programs in win i dont use. remove pinball ;) sorry folks, and the internet games..

replace every instance of "hide," and replace with just "," save file.

when you go to add/remove win programs, more stuff to uninstall appears, like msn explorer, pinball, etc..

Actually I may do that (have a tweak that removes "HIDE" from that inf) and have an option to remove Internet Games, then an Option to remove standard games.... hmmmm... food for thought. :)

Been repairing, building and upgrading PC's quite since the early 90's and have always been a computer nut since I was a teenager with my Trs-80 Model I and then my upgrade to the Atari 400.

...blah, blah, blah...Enough about me. Let me just say this:

I just downloaded the AutoPatcher from the newsgroup alt.binaries.cd.image and I was elated that such a thing exists!

With the exception of SP1 (which I have on another CD) this thing is going to save me SOOOO much time!

Being a Microsoft Beta tester, I just downloaded and rec'd the Windows Update Security CD, which at first glance, I thought was going to be my savior. No sooner then I downloaded that last night, that I stumbled up the AutoPatcher in the newsgroups.

I haven't tried the AutoPatcher yet, but what I liked about the MS update CD is that it will analyze a PC and determine what updates are missing. Does the AutoPatcher do that? You see, when I work on a clients PC, I have no idea what updates they may have previously installed. I have no idea if it's save to install an update that is already installed.

I am really looking forward to using this and if I can customize it to the make the settings changes I mentioned in my previous message, it's going to make setting up new systems that much easier, as well.

I am really excited to see this and I have been wondering why someone hasn't done this already (particularly Microsoft). Downloading the updates from 8 PCs (one at a time or simultaneously) in a small office with DSL takes HOURS.

I'm sure I'll have more relavent comments once I've used AutoPatcher. I have just burned the CD and I am putting it in my PC Tool box.

With your permission, I'd like to write about it to a few magazines and mention it on my radio show.

Oh, many customers are telling me their new computers do not have Java working, so I direct them to Sun's web-site to get the 'real' Java... Does the AutoPatcher installed Microsoft's latest VM or can we add the 'real' Java from Sun as an option?

First of all, wow... I had no idea that was you when you posted! So let me tell you Welcome agaon, and thanks for posting! :)

Now then, onto your posts. I am a Microsoft Beta Tester myself, and am also part of the ISO test. I thought their ISO would be what the AutoPatcher is, it isn't... but it's close. As far as can the AutoPatcher detect what's installed or not. That's a yes and no question. So let me explain.

The November Release (which is the newest update, version 4.1)... can detect updates that the AutoPatcher itself has already installed. But, the December release (which I'm currently working on), we've figured out a way (based on suggestions from people in the forums) that it will be able to detect already installed patches via the registry (like Windows Update does). So the answer is right now, it sort of can. In a couple weeks, it will be able to.

As far as customizing, the AutoPatcher is 100% customizable. In fact, last night I stayed up till 3:00 AM helping kelsenellenelvian customize his (with drivers and everything) so it will install everything silently from the main menu with everything else. I actually wrote up how to do it, but forgot to include it in the November release, but you can download it here: Customizing Information If you have any questions, you can always PM me and I'm always willing to help, as everyone here can tell you.

As for your Java Question. Since there was a debate over who likes which better, both are included in the AutoPatcher. The newest Sun Java (1.4.2_02) and the newest Microsoft VM (build 3810). It's under "Java Options" in the File Tree.

This is great and all but again its just bloat and you have to come to the point where you draw the line. This is a utility to make life easy and not have to download all the critical updates, plus add common tweaks. Not everyone is into ripping mp3 etc, and I know the business computers i work on have no use for this stuff. I am not saying its bad, I just think that its good to avoid having to make it so that people like me have to go thru and spend more time going through and unchecking all this stuff.

Again I am not saying its a bad thing, just keep in mind what FlishFun had in mind at the start, and avoid putting in too much stuff. Besides, whatever burning software you use, is going to have this already. Just my 2 cents and I by far am not saying I am right or saying what should or should not be put into this package.
