Plus you might wander into the arena where every time an app gets updated, you need to do likewise...

One question, I know how sometimes after applying hotfixes/critical updates it prompts me to reboot + adds various things to startup. Is this a factor and does the autopatcher take this into account?

i don't know if someone allready suggestet this but Multi language support would be nice (or at least somehow the possibility to choose if the install will be on an english only station).

since running the nov version hebrew in some applications is disabled or not working... (outlook, outlook express, IE...)

so i'll format my station tonight or tomorrow and go back to good old fashion windowsupdate :(

The AutoPatcher only asks for 1 reboot and only 1 thats when it is done installing everything and I do mean everything no need to start the dang thing over, and over again.

P.S. Having a fully customized version is wonderful!! Thanks to Flishfun.

This is great and all but again its just bloat and you have to come to the point where you draw the line. This is a utility to make life easy and not have to download all the critical updates, plus add common tweaks. Not everyone is into ripping mp3 etc, and I know the business computers i work on have no use for this stuff. I am not saying its bad, I just think that its good to avoid having to make it so that people like me have to go thru and spend more time going through and unchecking all this stuff.

You only have to check all the stuff you want once then you can save what you want as defaults.

Yeah we know it's kinda big but look at all the sh!t that is contained in there. After some customization mine weighs in at 317 megs, yet it will save me literally hours of time on any pc I am formatting, fixing or simply updating. Plus no hassle for those friends and aquaintences that have sssslllloooowww dial-up or worse yet no service at all. This thing is a god-send and tec supports best friend.

Again I am not saying its a bad thing, just keep in mind what FlishFun had in mind at the start, and avoid putting in too much stuff. Besides, whatever burning software you use, is going to have this already. Just my 2 cents and I by far am not saying I am right or saying what should or should not be put into this package.

Also the main package is huge yet the updates to it should remain at 30 megs or less.

Sorry for the double post but I needed to address both people separetly.

Well, I read through your posts. I promise you that the Dec Update will not be bloated. It probably won't be much bigger (if it is even bigger) than the November version. I will, however, be making a Bonus "Bloat" Pack containing a LOT of the suggestions here that I don't think need to be in the regular version. The Bonus pack would be able to be downloaded then just added to the Dec Update. It will read both dat files and make the tree accordingly (thanks to Raptor's Hard work on that). :)

@martinsc - We will be working on Mulit-Language Packs soon. :)

@leedogg - Kelsenellenelvian is right, it only ever needs to reboot once (that custom one I made him even installs his nVidia Dets silently as it installs all the hotfixes. Works perfectly, only needs that one reboot when everything is done). :)

lol, the new release is looking good :) but will these two make it in?

- ability to remove the registry tweaks?

- better descriptions of items in the tree view

edit: and by the way, nobody has mentioned my rank again so does that mean i can keep it?

I'll start you off:

1. I'm adding MSN Plus! (I got approval)

Hey flish....I was just checking out Messenger Plus (the one by patchou right?) and it's ad-supported....did you know about that???? I don't think ANYONE will want adware on their machine much less from our beloved APXP....

Yes, I've already compiled all the "Undo" Regtweaks, and they'll be included as a Zip file that you can go into and choose what you want to undo. And yes, I'm redoing the descriptions on a bunch of them to add more info. :) Also, until you're told otherwise, we discussed it, and for now your title is fine.

@Tech_8356 - Yes it is, but I'll just make it install silently without the sponsor. It's possible to do that in the newest versions. So no ads (don't like ads).

In a zip file? couldn't you simply make a add/remove entry? And thanks for letting me keep my title :p

Well, I'm putting it in a zip file just because there's no way to make each Registry entry an Add/Remove type file And for the most part, they all work perfectly. This is pretty much just an emergrency kit that has all the Undo's in it. :)

@Tech_8356 - Offhand I forget how... I have it written at home. It's just a switch you can run durning silent install (just as if you chose "NO" to installing the sponsor on normal setup).

The ability to install from an extended partition. I keep getting path errors. Also the ability to have a global over-write to patches already installed.

That I believe may be fixed with the issue that caused errors from installing of a CD. I'll talk to Raptor about it

@Optiplex - Not sure yet.

Yea, IE-SPYAD is going to be hard to maintain because that is updated just about daily, and the amount of nasty sites are on the increase :shifty: :pinch:

Well don't worry... I've got some ideas, I won't let you down. :D

One other thing I do on a new PC is I go into the display properties, click on the Desktop tab, click on the Customize Desktop button and put a check in the box next to My Computer.

This puts the My Computer icon on the desktop. If you just create a shortcut, it doesn't offer you the same right-click options as the 'real' My Computer icon. I do this so I can quickly go to the device manager on any PC I work on.

It would be a nice option on the next version of AP.

AutoPatcher XP? with DDI? Technology. Sounds almost like a Processor commercial. lol

and guess what, now its :DI :D

after hearing all those things about customizing AutoPatcher i though this:

if you customize your current autopatcherxp.dat file, next month you will have to customize it again by adding all the entries again... So this is how it will work now:

AutoPatcher will be able to index from 3 database files...

1. AutoPatcherXP.dat - the usual stuff, signature authentication remains as is

2. AutoPatcherXP_Bonus.dat - this will be a bonus pack we will be releasing, now with signature authentication

3. AutoPatcherXP_Custom.dat - this will contain all custom entries, and best of all, if you download next month's release, you wont have to do over all your entr:Ds :D

So this is TDI technology :Dw :D

/Raptor

P.S: Jason, a new exe will be ready shortly for you to test w:Dh :D

    • I am one of the first people to use the DXVK technology. In the channel below you can see some videos that I have made using this technology, including Assassin's Creed Odyssey. https://www.youtube.com/@nahum7995/videos Assassin's Creed Odyssey experienced several bugs and technical issues during its first months after release. It launched with its own fair share of funny but frustrating glitches. I ran it on DXVK 9 days after its release and I played it for many hours but didn't see a single significant bug on Linux. Assassin's Creed Odyssey is widely celebrated for pushing the franchise in bold new directions and specifically for nailing several elements better than any other title in the AC series: Player Choice & Branching Narrative, The Mercenary & Cultist System, Mythological Integration, Overpowered Combat Abilities, Open World Exploration But what I'm trying to point out is that this game wasn't quite playable on most windows systems, until a few months after its release when most of the bugs were fixed. However, on Linux it ran completely flawless from day one, although DXVK had seen little development and refinement at the time. What do you think the situation will be in 2026 now that most bugs and glitches of DXVK have been completely eliminated? This is information from Google about these situations that I am quoting. In many cases, using DXVK (a translation layer that converts DirectX 9, 10, or 11 into Vulkan) can result in more stable frame times and higher performance than native Windows rendering. This happens primarily by bypassing driver overhead and multithreading draw calls that were previously restricted to a single CPU core. Older APIs (like DirectX 9 and 11) are largely single-threaded on the CPU side. DXVK translates these calls to Vulkan, which is highly multi-threaded. This reduces CPU-bound stuttering on weaker processors. In certain cases, GPU manufacturers (especially AMD) have significantly better and more modern Vulkan drivers than they do for legacy DirectX. Vulkan gives developers—and in this case, the translation layer—closer control over how resources are held in VRAM. This can prevent micro-stutters and sudden frame drops during chaotic gameplay. Yes, certain games, particularly older DirectX 9 to 11 titles, can run with fewer crashes on DXVK than on native Windows. By intercepting DirectX draw calls and translating them into the modern, highly efficient Vulkan API, DXVK bypasses the limitations and poor driver support that cause instability in aging game engines. PlayStation 1, PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3 can be easily and perfectly emulated on Linux. In fact, modern Linux emulators offer high-performance upscaling, widescreen patches, and automatic controller mapping out of the box.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 PlayStation 1/2/3 games look drastically better on Linux thanks to resolution upscaling. Furthermore, it is also a fact that you cannot play many fun games on Windows either, isn't it? - The Nintendo Switch has an extensive library of exclusive games. - PlayStation has an extensive library of exclusive games - Android has "mobile-exclusive" games, meaning they are exclusive to mobile devices (iOS and Android) and aren't available on PC or consoles. And finally, it is also the case that in the next five years there will be games that millions of people will say you absolutely must play and that they want to play this specific game that released a few days ago. However, the other side of this story is that currently, absolutely no one cares that they cannot play these upcoming games right now.
