Just as a thought, there's a program called ClearTweak that you can use to adjust the settings of your Cleartype font smoothing more preciesly than the six window choices at the MS website.

You can check it out here, and it's 773KB so bloating shouldn't be a prob.

Just a thought. I have to agree with most of the people here, keeping it straight MS update and reserving the specialized programs for an addon is genius. I also repair computers, and having this saves me and my customers time and money. ThanQ.

neopwi I dont understand why that program has to run all the time, cant it just set the cleartype reg settings?
hey i have a Question here, should i be installing updates that got released after the November update was released?  or should i wait for the december one that includes the newest updates
You can install them. The December release will read your registry and be able to detect if they're already there or not.

@Emon - I'm not gonna include RegSeeker. I know it can do good, but as Slaughter said, it can cause harm as well. Sorry guys, this isn't goin' in.

@TYT - I'll look into the program, thanks.

Keep up the good work guys! (Y)

The only good thing about Regseeker is that the tweaks worked fine.  When it comes to cleaning out the registry; it's not safe cause It showed me stuff that was safe to delete but in reality It wasn't safe to delete to begin with.

True true... but I just don't feel that I should include it (or anything like it). Just remember, you can always include whatever you wish yourself! :D

Anywho, I need to get some shut-eye... see ya all on the flip-side! ;)

Okay, the November Update has been released, so it's time to start thinking of what we can put in the December Update!

I'll start you off:

1. I'm adding MSN Plus! (I got approval)

2. I'm adding the Flash Player

So let's hear your suggestions. :)

Please note, this is for suggestions only, everything else should still be posted in the main thread. :D

neopwi how about, opensource video audio codecs? xvid, ac3filter, media player classic

Hey guys...

Was installing the Nov update on a few machines.. had time to kill... so I actually watched it install 101 patches.

Saw a quick spelling mistake when it was installing the "Desktop Manager PowerToy" Desktop was spelt "Destop" It was displayed in that info area just above the current update status bar.

Ya... sad I noticed that... but it was there.

Quick suggestion for the Dec update... The ability to list all installed Microsoft patches/hotfixes. It's just a "/l" switch using a Q or KB article from MS. Great job with the nov update :D :D

Nice catch! I'll hafta fix that. :) As far as the "/l" switch... when would you want that done, before all the patches are installed, or after? I'm not even 100% sure we can work that in... but I'll see if we can't do somethin' for ya! ;)

EDIT - Just tried it myself, I have so many installed that I have to go to a higher res just to see them all (1280x1024 Just barely gets them all in). Not sure if it would really be practical...

Edited by FlishFun

It'd be nice to see the entire "before and after" picture of installed hotfixes... After AutoPatcher... there are a LOT of patches installed... same prob wit me and the screen resolution displaying all the patches with the /l. Is there a switch to write the stuff to a log file and then parse it to the autopatcher screen?

well atm i can only detect hotfixes... not DirectX and NET framework stuff... and i suppose you mean /l switch will ONLY show a list of installed updates, not update anything, right?

Yes, only installed updates, like this (I cut the window up so it's easier to view... keep in mind, it's really just one REALLY long window):

post-89-1069251105.jpg

please dont get msgplus, its not win. or gives you anything so helpful that it should be included in the autopatcher..

hey, thats my opinion anyways..

Wow, you're officially the first person to tell me they didn't want MSN Plus. I know it's not Windows, but there's a reason why I chose to install it. That reason is simply, I've gotten many requests for it, and I know many people use it. It will be included, but I'll set it as not default. :)

Make that 2... probably lots of miranda/trillian users out there.. or people who just hate it... Good idea with not having it as default

Well, don't worry. I promise to leave it set to not install as default. And I'll put it in the "Messenger Options" section. That way anyone who wants to install MSN6 or Windows Messenger 5 can choose that if they want to as well.

I was setting up a new machine the other day and decided to watch the progress bars start to finish with all 117 patches I selected....just for kicks, I resized it to near full screen and almost none of the progress bars actually made it to the end....any ideas? Maybe something to lok into for ther December release....and yes, the November update had been installed.

Yes... that's normal. Here's why that is. The bottom bar shows the total progress of all the patches. The top bar though doesn't. It was impossible for us to tell what stage each update was on, so what we did is I had Raptor just make a timer for the first bar. When the update starts, it just starts moving. It doesn't know how the update is going, but it shows you that something is happening. We tried to tweak the time so that for most updates the timer will almost reach the end before the next one starts. So it's not a glitch... it's the way it was designed. lol And actually they do reach the end. It will shoot to 100% then instantly back to 0% for the next update. You may see it flash for a split second. :)

    • "Revelation?" I was hoping for this episode to be called "Reunion". Oh, well... In a related note, the Final Fantasy VII compilation has received an EC entry, short for Ever Crisis. For those who don't know, it already had AC, BC, CC, and DC entries, short for Advent Children, Before Crisis, Crisis Core, and Dirge of Cerberus. I hope it doesn't get an FC entry becaude that would be a freakin' crisis.
    • Uh, after intense testing now, 'Samsung Browser' is not the best one outside of 'Microsoft Edge' after all. Opera Air is that. It has "some" bloat, but it's far less than what both Microsoft Edge and Brave browser have.
    • Weekend PC Game Deals: Resident Evil, Mafia, Like a Dragon, and more by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Weekend PC Game Deals is where the hottest gaming deals from all over the internet are gathered into one place every week for your consumption. So kick back, relax, and hold on to your wallets. The Epic concluded its mystery giveaways this week with another double freebie promotion. As a part of this, you can now grab Rogue Waters and Songs of Conquest to keep. Meanwhile, Rogue Waters is a roguelike where, as a pirate captain, you command a ship and crew through procedurally generated encounters. The double giveaway is coming to an end on June 11. On the same day, Warhammer 40K Speed Freeks will join in as the next freebie. Another Humble Choice offer was revealed earlier this week, bringing a refreshed eight-game selection to jump into. The June selection is Octopath Traveler 2, The Riftbreaker, Life is Strange: Double Exposure, INDIKA, Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector, Construction Simulator, Hell Clock, and Overlooting to keep as Steam keys. The $15 bundle gives you all eight games from this month's Choice selection. The month-long promotion will come to an end on July 6, giving you ample time to decide on whether you want the titles. The Humble Store also brought in standard gaming collections this week. The IGN Live Bundle kicked things off with games like Control, Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew, Blair Witch, Rollerdrome, and The Last Campfire for $10. At the same time, the We Will Always be Here bundle carried in titles like Bad End Theater, Thirsty Suitors, Vampire Therapist, and Tavern Talk for $12.
