Kotaku Rumor: Microsoft 6 months behind in game production for Durango

Recommended Posts

Even if Microsoft is behind it will simply throw money at the situation and convince publishers to make some of their titles X720 exclusive. There will be a lot of publishers that want to get in on the next generation consoles but don't have the budget to do so - Microsoft could easily solve that problem.

Well after all the exclusives the majority of JRPGs where multiplatform. the few that weren't didn't really skew the platform much, at most they balanced it.

You missed the point of course, though.

No they weren't...

There's a small comparison. At this point in the generation the PS3 has a lot more exlusive JRPGs than the 360. It's simply mind boggling you're trying to argue otherwise in the face of fact, since 2010 especially pretty much none of the JRPGs released outside of Final Fantasy have released on the 360.

The only 360 JRPGs that are exclusive that I can think of are Blue Dragon, Infinite Undiscovery, Lost Odyssey, MagnaCarta II and The Last Remnant. All early gen titles. Tales of Vesperia was ported to PS3, as was Eternal Sonata and Star Ocean 4.

Why would I keep a console I don't play on?

I got both at launch, PS3 sat collecting dust and Xbox was my main console, then I switched to PS3 and sold my Xbox. Where have I ever said that I'd never get an xbox????

For some reason its not tracking all the way back to 2006 but this is my gamertag, so whos lying?

what are those lists supposed to show. and most JRPG's that's released internationally and not japan only have been multiplatform.

I've gone through about 500 of the last 1000 posts I made and I can't see anywhere where I said I'd never get an Xbox, you are confusing me with someone else.

He might be confusing you with AB or or the dude with the blue avatar with a red eye.

While these are yet more unofficially confirmed rumors, it doesn't seem to far fetched that the Nextbox would have heat issues. That's exactly what happened with the original 360 and all of the RRODs. I'm not saying I believe the rumors, but it's not totally unbelievable.

Where the hell did you get heat issues from ? and your logic don't make any sense, since that would be exactly why it wouldn't have it.

Microsoft has lost focus, and it seem that nothing is actually coming out, "finished." Everything is lacking and needs months or years of fine tuning just to be a good complete product.

Except the Server and Server Applications divisions. Maybe breaking up MS isn't such a bad idea. Something is definitely wrong. I'd have to say based on Surface, WP8, and Modern UI, I'm more inclined to believe the rumors than not. And releasing a console AND a set top box, no way they can get it right out of the gate.

Mart talked about another rumor that mentioned Devs were seeing heat issues with Durango. That's what I was referring to. And just because Microsoft made a hardware design mistake last generation, doesn't necessarily mean they WON'T make it again.

The rumours are that the dev kits have heating issues, the PC based ones were fine but its well known in dev circles about the problem.

The ESRAM takes up loads of space on the chip and is making it run really hot, coupled with a small form factor and cheap cooling its causing problems.

Lost focus... not sure what you base that opinion on, it seems rather like they're more focused than ever.

I think it would be a fairly safe bet to say that the next xbox will have heating and heat/cool cycles tested far beyond what is normal, and the products won't have any issues with heat

They have lost focus, their "vision" is more about the living room and home entertainment, this is my opinion but I personally think they expected Sony to go the same route and focus more on the settop box experience but Sony did a 180 and went more games focused which is why I think there are so many negative rumours, they weren't prepared and are scrambling to catch up now.

Exclusive 360 JRPGs died a long time ago, there are multiplatform, but the PS3 has the most exclusive JRPGs.

The above only contains retail games, and I have not trawled through the Japanese only JRPGs which there are a fair few of. Most do get translations.

Everyone feel free to add to the lists, although I think my point has been made, a title or two missing here or there. There is simply genuinely absolutely no way you can argue against this in the case of JRPGs. I think you'll also find the 360 doesn't sell in Japan for this exact case.

Lost focus... not sure what you base that opinion on, it seems rather like they're more focused than ever.

The fact that nothing is releasing with polish/finish, outside of the Server/Server App arena. I seems as though MS spends more time finishing a product these days after it is RTM as they do before it is RTM. When product ship needing immediate life support, something is fundamentally wrong. The modus operandi of ship it now, fix it later has to end IMO.

Would be pretty bad for microsoft is this is true. To not only have pretty much no exclusives for the 360 this year, but then be behind on their next-gen launch titles.

Also, don't ya just love how some people around here get all upset and go into attack mode or instantly disregard something just because it's not praise for microsoft?

Ryu ga Gotoku 5: Yume Kanaeshi Mono (, also known as Yakuza 5, is a 2012 open world action-adventure video game

Didn't bother to trawl all through it, but yeah, that seems like a credible list...

Kind of like how some people go all out post all the negative rumors , pretend anything else doesn't exist, and blab on about the negative rumors in every xbox thread you mean ?

Or did you have one of those magical coins with only one side ?

I figure we'll have to wait and see, rumors are just rumors till they either become fact or end up forgotten. I think MS pushed the reveal date back because of licensing related hold ups and not hardware or games.

You've never seen or played Yakuza? While not a conventional JPRG, it fits easily into the category due to all the sidequests, dating sim, mini-games, loot, ect. Take out all the Yakuza games if you want, there's still a load of strictly conventional JRPGs up there.

I actually cannot believe you simply wrote my list off like that. HawkMan, you're a lost cause for rationality on this board.

Care to share some positive rumours?

Care to share some positive rumours?

The thing that's frustrating is so many people on Neowin rail on at you for not posting topics they want... and even they don't post the topics they want  :/

"Post more positive topics!"

Well, you go ahead and do it. Why do I need to if it's apparently that easy to do so? HawkMan hasn't even started one topic in the first page of this 360 section. The ironic thing is the people who have been covering the past few weeks of Durango rumours are by large the only people keeping this section active (I mean the MS section, decent activity other sections across the GH). Whether or not the rumours are positive or negative is fairly irrelevant if it's what the rest of the gaming scene are hot at discussing.

Surely if anything the PS4 is behind, after all they decided to put 8gig in right before the announcement.

Oh, and the fact that they didn't actually show the console? I'd say the 8GB was more competitive based due to rumors of the nextbox having that, which does show a sign of anxiety. You've got to feel for Sony, they've been dethroned and MS are fast taking their market.

Someone thinking outside the box. Everyone believes everything. For people to think opinion is not mixed in with these rumors is stupid.

That's not bad for a console that launched a year late and at such a high price with difficult to develop for architecture.

    • This is weird. Mythos is more unrestricted compared to Fable. Technically it poses more risk!!
    • This is a great thing, I always have issues with Verizon while inside of certain football stadiums due to the saturation and walls blocking signal so a LOS way to connect would be great. Verizon was supposed to be offering sat data this year but I've not heard a word of it lately. Dude is sending rockets into space in a cheap manner, low waste foot print and has a great product with solar/battery tech. We would be so far behind China right now if not for him and a push to get back into space.
    • illegally? Proof of that? Seems you are posting misinformation or well a pure straight up lie cause there is zero proof of such a thing. But I get it...
