Let's hope there's no delays this time around. 117 new cars at launch, but only 2 new tracks, which is a bit disappointing (every single car and track from GT5 is in GT6). :/

I have to say, I would have expected the next Gran Turismo game to be released on the PS4. It could have been a great launch title. Maybe they'll release a PS4 version with even better graphics and exclusive cars/tracks.

Wow, that's pretty sad. Might as well just make it a DLC to GT5.

It's a new game engine, how are they suppose to do that?

@MJ, I've read it's 7 new tracks?

@MJ, I've read it's 7 new tracks?

Ahh yes, I just re-read the GTPlanet article; 7 new locations, 33 in total (although the official GT5 site lists 27 locations, meaning there should be 34 in total).

Have to say though I am looking forward to the new engine, the communities, and the device compatibility. Maybe we'll finally have an official way of doing B-Spec races on the PC? We all know how much of a grind B-Spec is in GT5, so being able to do it away from the PS3 would be a godsend! :p

Some news about the GT Academy as well...

Nissan and Sony Computer Entertainment Europe have revealed that the innovative GT Academy competition will return for a fifth season. GT Academy 2013 will be the biggest yet, with more countries than ever before participating and the online gaming element of the competition set to be run in July on a demo of the hotly-anticipated Gran Turismo?6 game exclusively on PlayStation?3.

970521_10151441351515197_1436860246_n.jpg

Since its inception in 2008, the highly acclaimed virtual-to-reality competition has attracted over two million entries, with gamers and motor sport fans battling it out on Gran Turismo for the chance to become real Nissan racing drivers. Six former winners of the competition, which now runs in Europe, the USA, Germany, Russia, and the Middle East and South Africa, are now Nismo Athletes competing in top-level motor sport on behalf of Nissan.

Nissan?s Director of Global Motorsport, Darren Cox, revealed the plans for GT Academy 2013 today. Speaking at the famous Silverstone Circuit, during an event at which the latest version of the famous Gran Turismo game was announced, he said: ?Every year of GT Academy has provided excitement and firsts, and 2013 will be no exception. The selection process and Driver Development Programme are now so robust that we are turning out some genuinely fast racing drivers. At its core GT Academy remains a highly-accessible route into professional motor racing for people who would otherwise not have the opportunity. Unearthing genuine driving talent from the world of gaming is a real example of digital age performance and the innovation for which Nissan is famous. We are predicting that more people than ever will enter the competition this year on the stunning new GT6 demo.?

Kazunori Yamauchi, President of Polyphony Digital, explained: ?GT Academy is a fitting platform for the Gran Turismo community to preview GT6 for the first time, as we aim to bring the worlds of virtual and reality closer than ever. We are very proud of this partnership with Nissan, and we have aimed to make a very appealing and accessible competition featuring a range of their cars. The challenges, even at this early stage of the competition, are designed to improve people?s race craft before they even make it to driving real cars. We have also incorporated the Silverstone circuit for the first time in Gran Turismo. This should ensure that competitors will arrive at Race Camp better prepared than ever.?

With the online qualification rounds offering a sneak preview of GT6, and the Nismo athletes blazing a trail in motorsport - including Lucas Ordo?ez (2008 winner) and Jann Mardenborough (2011 winner) racing at the 2013 Le Mans 24 Hours for Nissan - the entry levels for this year?s motorsport talent-spotting contest are expected to reach an all time high.

The format of GT Academy sees the fastest PlayStation gamers from each country join winners from a number of live events to compete in their respective National Finals. The action will then make the transition from the virtual world to real Nissan sports cars when the winners of each National competition are invited to take part in the intense international final at Silverstone Circuit, now the established home of the GT Academy Race Camp.

The winners of each of the GT Academy competitions will then be put through an incredibly intensive and thorough Driver Development Programme, rated among the best in the world, in order to qualify for the ultimate competition prize - a full season racing a Nissan GT-R GT3 Nismo in a top-level championship.

Details of how to enter GT Academy 2013 can be found on various platforms including: www.facebook.com/GTAcademy, http://eu.gran-turismo.com and http://twitter.com/GTAcademy

I agree, but at the same time, I think it speaks volumes for Sony in keeping up the life of their devices, just as they did with the PS2 for a good while there.

Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi has revealed that the upcoming sixth entry in the racing simulator series is also being considered for release on PlayStation 4.

Speaking at today?s Gran Turismo 15th Anniversary event at Silverstone racetrack in England, Yamauchi told IGN, ?We actually do have a PlayStation 4 version in mind, but for this holiday season, we thought it would be best for users to release on PS3 for now.?

Players eager to race around the world?s most iconic stadiums in all their next generation glory may want to put their brakes on though. Yamauchi adds, ?I thought the best scenario would be to have the game come out, then to have new scenarios, new DLC and other updates. Once the players have thoroughly played out the system, if the PlayStation 4 version came out naturally, as part of that process, I think that would be the best scenario.?

Asked whether progress could be transferred from PS3 to future PS4 versions of the game, Yamauchi would only offer a coy ?probably?.

Expect more info on the PS4 version of Gran Turismo 6 to be announced closer to the PS3 version?s release.

I really wanted this to be a PS4 game. But, it's all about the game engine and physics, and I'm certainly interested to see what PD have done. It whiffs of the GT Prologue games, which I never felt comfortable with ... like I was paying them to beta test their new game, then paying them again when it was eventually finished.

I'll check out a demo, but it needs to be something special this time round for me to part with my cash.

I think the PS3 has some juice left to have better graphic for gt6!

I hope Polyphony has plans for a Gran Turismo 7 for the Playstation 4! Polyphony in the past has always released two games per console such as; GT1, GT2 for the PS1, GT3, GT4 for the PS2 and now GT5, GT6 for the PS3!

I'm really hoping they do something to fix the standard cars that were found in GT5, though I imagine they'll likely carry over as is, which is pretty disappointing. Personally would rather quality than quantity, though hopefully that will be fixed by the time they do their PS4 release. Looking forward to trying out the demo come summer to see what the new engine is like.

So to sum up, you want an HD version of Gran Turismo 4. ;) I don't blame you; GT4 was arguably the most complete game in the series. Not as many cars as GT5, but they were a hell of a lot more diverse. Anyone here remember driving this one? ;)

And now, GT6 gameplay (filmed from a cam)!

Hi-res screenshot as well...

X-BOW_R_01.jpg

...and hands-on impressions from GTPlanet...

By participating in the big Gran Turismo 6 reveal at Silverstone, I had the opportunity to be one of the first people in the world outside of Polyphony Digital to get some hands-on time with the game. It was, sadly, all too brief, but it was enough to give me a good idea of what the game?s new physics engine feels like, and to capture some of the first gameplay video footage.

Above, you?ll see a few (admittedly quite slow) laps around Silverstone?s International Circuit in one of GT6?s new cars, the KTM X-Bow R, along with a brief replay.

So, what does Polyphony Digital?s all-new physics engine feel like? It?s hard to describe, but let?s just say I think it will be hard to go back to Gran Turismo 5 after having experiencing GT6.

With traction control disabled and ABS set to 1 (I didn?t notice SRF was ?on??ugh, sorry!), it felt difficult to be ?quick? around the track. However, the car was also easier to control, as if I had a better sense of the level of grip available at each wheel and exactly what the car was doing. It felt good.

When I play an older Gran Turismo game, I notice a kind of ?numbness? or ?dullness? in the handling characteristics of the cars, after having become accustomed to GT5. Now, I think I will feel the same way about GT5 the next time I play it.

The audio which you hear in the video was recorded via the television?s line-out headphone jack. It?s mono (single channel) sound, and doesn?t quite represent the sound that I could hear through the TV?s speakers. Although it?s not a radical change, I did notice a rougher, more visceral texture in the engine note that was more satisfying than what?s provided in GT5.

Regardless, Polyphony Digital?s work with Yokohama and suspension company KW Automotive has no doubt paid off, and the changes were immediately apparent to me after having spent only a very short time with the new game. Stay tuned for more exclusive GT6 gameplay and menu footage coming over the next several days.

Going to have real damage this time?

That's what I would like to know. All things considered, GT5's damage was a step in the right direction, but was still lacking compared to every other racing game with damage on the market.

Sound on GT is a huge topic of discussion by itself

Yup the sounds really need improved in GT6. "Realistic" or not in GT5, they just do not sound full enough. I'm sure we can trust PD, we do not want unrealistic bass thumping roaring for everything either (what most people think sounds the best), only those cars that genuinely sound like that.

    • TeraCopy 4.0 Build 28 by Razvan Serea TeraCopy is a compact program designed to copy and move files at the maximum possible speed, also providing you with a lot of features. Copy files faster. TeraCopy uses dynamically adjusted buffers to reduce seek times. Asynchronous copy speeds up file transfer between two physical hard drives. Pause and resume transfers. Pause copy process at any time to free up system resources and continue with a single click. Error recovery. In case of copy error, TeraCopy will try several times and in the worse case just skips the file, not terminating the entire transfer. Interactive file list. TeraCopy shows failed file transfers and lets you fix the problem and recopy only problem files. Shell integration. TeraCopy can completely replace Explorer copy and move functions, allowing you work with files as usual. TeraCopy is free for non-commercial use only. For commercial use you need to buy a license. The paid version of the program includes the following features: Copy/move to your favorite folders. Save reports as HTML and CSV files. Select files with the same extension/folder. Remove the selected files from the copy queue. Features added since version 3.17: Enhanced speed graph. New multi-threaded copy engine. Support for copying to multiple targets. Queue system for managing multiple copy operations. Support for receiving files via the LocalSend protocol. TeraCopy entry in the modern Windows Explorer context menu. Integrated toolbar in the title bar. Why receive LocalSend transfers with TeraCopy? Handle file conflicts: Skip, overwrite, or rename files when a file with the same name already exists. LocalSend always creates another copy, which can waste time and disk space, especially when resuming an interrupted transfer. Filter unwanted files: Apply ignore lists or remove files manually before accepting a transfer, so unnecessary files are not downloaded. Better performance on fast networks: In tests over a 10 Gbps connection, TeraCopy received files several times faster than the standard LocalSend app on Windows. TeraCopy 4.0 Build 28 changelog: Fixed a bug where Overwrite behaved as Overwrite All during same-drive move operations. AdvancedInstaller fixed the installer’s security vulnerability: EXE Bootstrapper resolved the %appdata% location incorrectly for the System account. • New AMD graphics driver fixes install issues and FSR 4.1 crashes on RX 7000 GPUs by Taras Buria AMD is rolling out yet another graphics driver. Version 26.6.4 is now available for download, bringing two important fixes. One is for those still using Windows 10 and having trouble installing driver 26.6.2. In fact, this patch is coming from the recently released hotfix, so it is not new if you are already running version 26.6.3. The second fix is for RX 7000 owners. AMD recently brought FSR 4.1 support to the previous-gen graphics cards, but there was a bug with certain games crashing when using FSR 4.1. I experienced this issue with Forza Horizon 6, so today's driver should take care of that. Here is the official changelog: Intermittent install issue seen when installing AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 26.6.2 on Windows® 10 systems for Radeon™ RX 7000 series and above graphics products. Intermittent application crash may be observed in some games with AMD FSR Upscaling 4.1 enabled on Radeon™ RX 7000 series graphics products. Known issues include the following: Intermittent application crash or driver timeout may be observed while playing Battlefield™ 6 on AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370. AMD is actively working on a resolution with the developer to be released as soon as possible. Texture flickering or corruption may appear while playing Battlefield™ 6 with AMD Record and Stream on some AMD graphics products. AMD FSR Upscaling and AMD FSR Frame Generation may show as inactive in AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition while playing Battlefield™ 6 when enabled on Radeon™ RX 9000 series graphics products. Failure to install may be observed while installing AI Bundle components in some regions with limited access to HuggingFace and GitHub. Model flickering or rendering failure may be observed in Maxon Cinema 4D and Blender on Radeon™ RX 7000 series and above graphics products. Users experiencing this issue are recommended to install AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 26.3.1. Intermittent application crash may be observed on some models while running Blender on Radeon™ RX 7000 series and above graphics products. Users experiencing this issue are recommended to install AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 26.3.1. You can download the AMD Radeon driver 26.6.4 from the official website here. Full release notes are available on the same page.
    • Amazon may use OpenAI and Nova models after Anthropic reportedly raises costs by Karthik Mudaliar Amazon is reportedly considering to use OpenAI models and even its own Nova family of AI models after Anthropic raised the cost of using Claude inside Amazon services. According to a report from The Information, Amazon is weighing its options to reduce costs under a new arrangement with Anthropic. But back in April, Amazon said it would invest $5 billion more in Anthropic, with the possibility of adding up to another $20 billion if certain commercial milestones are met. That investment actually came on top of another $8 billion Amazon had already put into the Claude maker. Anthropic, meanwhile, committed to spend more than $100 billion over 10 years on AWS technologies, including Amazon’s Trainium chips. Amazon isn't just a customer of Anthropic but also one of the most important backers and cloud partners. This is why it makes it interesting that Amazon is considering other alternatives to handle its internal workloads. Although Amazon has been building its own options for a while now. Its Nova family of AI models was announced in late 2024 for Amazon Bedrock, with models aimed at text, image, and video tasks. Amazon pitched the model around cost and latency at that time. With that said, OpenAI has also become a more realistic option recently for AWS customers as well as for Amazon itself. Earlier this year, OpenAI brought its latest models and Codex coding agent to Amazon Bedrock, after changes to its previously more restrictive Microsoft cloud arrangement. This allowed AWS to serve even those customers who wanted other alternatives from Claude, without having to move workloads out of Amazon's cloud. Evaluating alternatives could also be due to commercial pressure and not necessarily a sign of a damaged partnership between Amazon and Anthropic. Whether or not Amazon is actually considering switching entirely to OpenAI's models or its own Nova models remains unknown at this moment.
