xerox
I get this when I try to log on to my machine, on every account. I have tried my user account, and Administrator... It happened after a friend of mine did something to the settings. Now I can't log on, and I have no idea what to do :( How can I fix it? Intelligen
He used group policy and does not allow users to logon locally, you have to use recovery console or safe mode (think safe mod will let you) and use gpedit.msc Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/115429-the-local-policy-of-this-system-does-not-allow/#findComment-1361351 Share on other sites
OptiPlex
I remember something similar happening long time ago on Neowin :shifty: Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/115429-the-local-policy-of-this-system-does-not-allow/#findComment-1361485 Share on other sites
xerox
Ugh, safe mode doesn't work. Same message. I'll try recovery console when I get back from work. What command do I use in recovery console? Buzz99
If I remember well, I've recovered this with "last known good" configuration, when you hit F8 at startup. worth a try. Did that too, didn't work :( I'll probably just put the disk in another computer, take out the data I need, and reinstall... icuhackn
This will help you to get started. In the Recover console, you can run the 'logon' command and it will ask for the local administrator password. It will then search for Windows installations. Once you are in there you can run the gpedit.msc and make changes to the Group Policy that is preventing you from logging on locally. http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/en/se...onsole_cmds.htm Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/115429-the-local-policy-of-this-system-does-not-allow/#findComment-1363524 Share on other sites
