Developer: Dontnod Entertainment

Publisher: CapCom

Platforms: X360/PS3/PC

Release Date: June 4th, 2013

Composer: Olivier Deriviere

Introduction:

The game is set in the year 2084, in a futuristic version of Paris called Neo-Paris. In the story, Mega-corporation MEMORIZE has invented a new brain implant called the Sensation Engine (Sensen), which enables roughly 99% of the population to upload and share their actual memories on the net. This gives MEMORIZE an immense degree of control over the population and enables them to establish a surveillance state. This, in turn, leads to a small group of rebels forming under the name "Errorists": their mission is to bring down MEMORIZE. The invention of the Sensen has also resulted in the creation of Leapers: formally memory-addicted humans, they have absorbed so many memories through the net that their Sensen has degraded and they have mutated into a subhuman form, now living in the sewers of Neo-Paris.

Literally moist with anticipation over this game, I can't wait to play it. Annoyingly though, I'm at my work's annual company conference in Edinburgh on release day and won't be back home until the day after release. You know I'll be remotely logging in to my rig to set it downloading whilst I'm on the train back!

Not too fussed how repetitive it may be, any game where I get to hit people in the face captures my attention.

The game has my interest though though I've only seen a few minutes of gameplay so far. Will keep my eye on it as it gets closer to release though I doubt I'll be picking it up at launch. Trying to save a bit for next gen and I'm more interested in The Last of Us right now which comes out a week later, so I'll probably be waiting for a sale/price drop before grabbing this.

I get the feeling this game will turn out a little like Enslaved, which is the most criminally underrated game of this generation. It kind of became a bit of a sleeper hit, was ignored on release but has seen a lot of sales from the bargain bins. Unfortunately it wasn't in time to enable Ninja Theory to split off and work on a sequel as planned :/

Remember me doesn't seem to get a whole lot of press, in fact a lot of gamers I know haven't heard of it. Kudos to Capcom for trying to put out a brand new IP though.

Looks potentially cool, but whenever I say that about a game with the Capcom logo on it, I'm always disappointed.

This. Capcom games tend to have very shallow gameplay and engines that look half-decent but feel wrong. The company has been going downhill for a long time.

This one may be a bit different. Originally it was going to be a PS3 exclusive but following some disagreements it got cancelled and then was funded by Capcom to complete development. Hopefully this means they've not had a huge say in the gameplay mechanics as it would hopefully have been set by the time they came on board.

I don't expect it to be great, but I expect to like the style and what they attempted.

Yep. I only finished chapter 0 and 1 so far and I'm probably going to sleep. The combat system feels a bit off, but I haven't had any major complaints.

Pretty decent looking other than being stuck in a slum up to this point heh :)

I'm liking it. Only through 2 episodes. Thinking of it more of an interactive story. Looks good, plays good, clean, nice imagery and atmosphere. I can agree with the 8/10s. I give it 7-7.5/10 for entertainment.

Very well done Capcom. I'm a little surprised.

I wanted to leave it until a few chapters through but my first impressions are that i'm really liking this game.

The combat is quite simplistic but it strikes a good balance of action, fighting, platforming, and good storytelling.

I love the memory remix elements, where you try and affect the outcome of someones memory so they behave differently. Going through a scene and changing one or two (or more) things to see the outcome is really interesting as there are multiple ways it can play out.

I get the criticisms that the game is linear, but it is trying to tell a story so i'll give it that.

It feels quite similar to Enslaved, and I do have a feeling that this game might go the same way. Not a lot of attention on release but might pick up a lot once its in the bargain bin and has a built up bit of a reputation.

Very stylish game. Well acted, fairly well executed.

I would personally give it a solid 8/10 so far. Hopefully it keeps it up throughout the whole game.

    • Linux 7.1 arrives with an NTFS overhaul and major hardware performance boosts by Paul Hill The founder of the Linux kernel has just announced the availability of Linux 7.1. This is a stable version of the kernel that will now be tested by various Linux distributions before it is shipped to users through update managers. Some users, like those on Debian, for example, might not get it for a long time, if at all, while Fedora users can expect it in the near future. With Linux 7.1 out on time, the merge window for Linux 7.2 is now open, giving contributors the opportunity to send in major new features that have been waiting for the last two months. Torvalds warned that he is currently travelling and will be in another timezone, so timing for the merge window may be irregular due to timezone differences and limited internet access. Torvalds said that he has already fetched early pull requests to allow him to do some offline work, but the travel could still cause disruption. Right now, he is not planning to extend the release, but did consider it. He said he might later regret not extending, though. In terms of this last week of development for Linux 7.1, Torvalds said there were no major or alarming changes. This week consisted mostly of smaller driver updates to GPU, networking, and sound, networking fixes, trace tooling fixes, and misc minor fixes. The shortlog this week lists fixes for driver bugs, memory leaks, I/O and USB fixes, networking and RDMA fixes, DRM/graphics fixes, and tooling and verification improvements. Specific fixes include USB series heap-overflow and buffer overflow fixes, and multiple use-after-free, memory-leak, and refcount corrections across subsystems such as i2c, zram, gpio, and net. There are fixes for graphics drivers, including amdgpu, i915, and virtio, as well as hypervisor and virtualization tweaks affecting mshv, vmbus, and hyperv. According to Phoronix, anyone running Linux 7.1 should look out for the new NTFS driver, Intel FRED for improved performance on Panther Lake and future CPUs, faster graphics with Intel Arc Battlemage, and improvements for older AMD Radeon GPUs. If you are running Linux on your computer and everything is fine, then you don’t need to worry about updating to Linux 7.1 as a priority; just wait for it to be pushed to you. If you have tried Linux on hardware but it didn’t work properly, trying again with a distro that uses Linux 7.1 could cause Linux to work on your machine, thanks to the new hardware support.
