Why a reset?

Griefers. Especially on the survival map a lot of buildings have been grieved more or less heavily.

Weed out problematic users. I admit to having promoted too many users which later turned out to be a problem. A reset is a chance to demote all but a few trusted users, then selectively re-add whoever asks for a promotion in the forum.

Unification of the map. Let's face it: The creative map is underused. A better idea would be to have one map, build a decent spawn (and protect the area in a 100 block radius around it), then make survival the default and offer creative mode upon user request.

This is just my opinion though. On behalf of the other MC server 'gods' I would like to encourage a discussion about how to proceed with the Neocraft server. Perhaps some of you prefer to keep the current setup. Leave your comments in this thread; the server admins cannot force changes on the user base.

Edit: Added a poll to the topic.

I've always found that having Creative and Survival on the same map can unbalance the Survival gameplay as Creative users (without blocking any blocks/weapons/tools etc) will make diamond houses where Survival users will just grief to make diamond tools.

If you are finding out that your Creative map is being underused then it's because many of your users prefer not to use Creative but Survival. I personally would keep them separately and just reset the Survival map.

I'm guessing that as someone with 7000+ posts and a clean record on the server I would be kept on the white list. But I have two friends who only have a handful of posts on her but have a clean record of the server too. Would they be removed from the white list?

Not necessarily. I can think of several players who can safely remain whitelisted.

Keep the ideas coming, that's why I started this thread. (Y)

Timan isn't back til tomorrow, so you might want to see if he needs to have anything saved (don't know if he still plays it).

Timan is the one with the server access, so whatever is agreed upon will have to be done by him anyway.

I voted for a reset, I have basically given up on the Minecraft server for now due to all the griefers screwing things up (That and I have gotten more into Tekkit). I moved a good distance away from spawn and still they manage to destroy things and at one point killed all my villagers just for the hell of it.

I am looking forward to a reset, that will hopefully coincide with the 1.6 release this time i think i will move a bit further away from the spawn however, i think things will work out with the changes that have been discussed on here and elsewhere. I think we mainly just need to be more picky as to who gets promoted. I have found myself playing less on the server lately for two reasons, I did not want to put too much work in before a reset and i did not want to just have my work destroyed within minutes of my logging out.

I'm for this, and I also like the idea of merging the two maps together, and having it so that people can request Creative. One thing to alleviate the Diamond house issue is to provide build protection. With each build you can use something like /modreq protection and one of the mods will come along and apply protection to that build, meaning that the blocks cannot be broken by anyone but the user.

    • Chrome is also a first party browser on Android and ChromeOS. And on those systems, Google is pulling the same dirty tactics as Microsoft does on Windows.
    • Unofficial script lets you install unreleased Windows 11 features without Microsoft Account by Sayan Sen Microsoft has been steadily evolving the Windows Insider Program over the years, introducing new channels and testing paths that allow enthusiasts to experience upcoming and yet-to-be-released Windows features (some interesting hidden ones too) before they reach the public. However, one long-standing requirement has remained largely unchanged as users are generally expected to enroll in the Program and with a Microsoft account. That's where a third-party tool called "OfflineInsiderEnroll" can help. OfflineInsiderEnroll is said to be a lightweight script that enables access to Windows Insider Program builds on systems that are not signed in with a Microsoft account. Essentially the tool configures the necessary Insider settings locally and hence allows users to select and switch between available preview channels while continuing to receive builds through the normal Windows Update channel. If you are wondering how it manages to do so, it is made possible by a Registry value known as TestFlags. When configured to"0x20", Windows stops communicating with Microsoft's online Insider enrollment services thus preventing locally configured Insider settings from being overwritten. This allows the script to apply its own channel configuration directly through the Registry as Windows Update does not verify whether a device has been officially enrolled in the Insider Program or not. Previously the utility has had already supported the traditional Insider branches including Dev, Beta, and Release Preview. However following Microsoft’s recent restructuring of its preview channels, the script has now been updated. The latest OfflineInsiderEnroll version, 2.6.6, adds support for the newly introduced Insider channel lineup. As such, users can now choose from several Experimental channels in addition to Beta and Release Preview options. The update also retains tools for refreshing the Insider cache, resetting Insider settings, and completely stopping Insider enrollment when needed. Keep in mind though that will need elevated privileges when running the script (run as Admin). You can get the latest version of OfflineInsiderEnroll from this page on its official GitHub repo.
    • The "Classic" Outlook has done that for a few years as well. The option to even change that is really hidden away too... It really shouldn't be hard to respect user defaults. Sadly we are the product now, not Outlook. To change in the Classic Outlook: File > Options > Advanced > change "Open hyperlinks from Outlook in"
