You couldn't be more correct. Fanyboyism is pathetic. If you don't like it move on. Don't harp on about why you should be heard for your hatred over others for the product.

yea I think not, what about the way they are changing there used game rules. If we don't stand up and make yourself heard then it will become the norm and we will have to live with it.

YOU CAN WATCH TV ON IT! OMFG

SKYPE TOO. JESUS H CHRIST

INTERNET EXPLORER TEN! YOU HAVE JUST EJACULATED FOR SURE

DID WE MENTION TV?

THE NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE HAS SOME APP EXCLUSIVE TO US! BOOM BITCHES

LOOK AT THIS ****. I CAN GO TO IE10 THEN TO SKYPE THEN TO TV AND IT'S INSTANT. HOLY FK

IT HOOKS UP TO YOUR TV BTW

Meanwhile all the cool people are on their PCs.

You forgot about INTERNET EXPLORER TEN NEEDS XBOX LIVE GOLD!

This a million times. What everyone is forgetting, is that any negative press about the X1 is all due to how MS has handled everything. It's not like people just made this up. Everything that has been reported, has come directly from someone at MS saying something. If you want to hate, hate those at MS with loose lips. No one has made anything up.

People didn't make up DRM policies or used game fee's, It was said directly by those at MS. If they didn't state it all clearly, it is only MS's fault.

People getting mad about "FUD" being spread... well then, yell at MS for saying **** they shouldn't. Can't get mad at others only parroting what MS has already said.

It's not as black and white as you'd think. Some of what's been going around started out as a rumour and evolved into a slightly different rumour.

The bottom line is, Microsoft already responded to the rumours by basically saying the following:

"The ability to trade in and resell games is important to gamers and to Xbox. Xbox One is designed to support the trade in and resale of games. Reports about our policies for trade in and resale are inaccurate and incomplete. We will disclose more information in the near future."

I believe it is best to wait for E3 where MS will supposedly wash that awful conference away from people's minds and Sony will confirm no DRM (even from publishers' side). A few online rants mean nothing a you can see here:

No one has said it HAS to be connected the whole time. That's rubbish. Stop reading into things. Show me where it's been said (and can be proved to be real) that it HAS to be connected at all times. Microsoft aren't stupid. They will know not everyone wants to have it connected or has the space to have it connected. The controller will be sufficient to use the machine. Anyone who doesn't realise this needs to get out of the clouds. It's bloody obvious. So I think you should stop worrying about that sort of stuff.

http://www.ign.com/wikis/xbox-one/Xbox_One_Kinect

And there are other threads mentioning that it CAN be turned off, but HAS to be connected.

The problem here is everyone who likes product X is a fanboy. If it wasn't for the accused fanboys the gaming section would probably be dead.

People refuse to post their own news, rumours, opinion pieces, etc. and start whining when other people do. Any registered member can start a new topic, I suggest you do that if you don't like the content others are posting.

Yes, I agree, if it's effecting a part of the product or the experience for the user then yes make yourself heard :) (in retrospect I probably should have made that clear ;)). However, what I was referring to was the senseless bashing from the "other side". For example (not saying they were, just making an example): PS fans mindlessly bashing the Xbox One for it's design... just because it's not a PlayStation.

I don't think it's just a case of "the other side" here. I think some XBox fans were a little bit puzzled by the press conference. I know i am. I'm no Sony fan. The consoles i owned in my life are those ones. Pong decidated machine, Donkey Kong dedicated machine, Atari 2600, NES, SNES, PS, XBox, Cube, XBox 360.

It reminds me all the criticize the Cube had. It looked like a purse. It was purple. The controller was weird. EA did not support it. Etc ... Back then i was a mod at Gamespot and most Nintendo fans assumed all the criticizing came from Sony and Microsoft fans. It appeared MANY Nintendo fans (like me) were not happy with the system and it failed badly and Nintendfo is where it is today cause it did not listen to its fans.

I don't think all the people who criticize the One press conference are Sony fans. There's simply too much of them. And i don't think most Sony fans care all that much.

Now maybe all the things said are FUD. But you got to remember it's Neowin here. As far as gaming goes i'll believe something i read on Gamespot or IGN more than something i read here.

I'm confident Microsoft will do the right things. People did not like the Duke XBox Controller. Microsoft listened and brought the controller S in north america. But right now i've read things i don't like in many reliable gaming sources. I wont list them again since it'll be debunked with shady links. Things might change and probably will. But so far there's some things Microsoft needs to address clearly at E3. Some things some XBox fans don't like.

The unfortunate thing is, out of all the console releases this has been the worst one news-wise for Neowin. I've been pretty confident of almost all the information I've found on this site, and that's why I'm still here. But this time it has been both hostile and just dishonest. This site shouldn't work to perpetuate false news, yet I've seen more articles here with baity headlines in the last couple of weeks than I can count, some of which have nothing to do with the actual content of the article. And then we have a plethora of articles that are rumors reported as facts. I don't recall nearly this much bad reporting on the consoles in the previous gens.

I don't think all the people who criticize the One press conference are Sony fans. There's simply too much of them. And i don't think most Sony fans care all that much.

At least on neowin, some sony fans care more about Xbox than actual Xbox users. I could and find a screenshot I took a few days ago but not in the mood.

It is an ugly device but who cares really. I am really unimpressed with the features though. I do not think it will work as flawless as they demo'd but that will remain to be seen. I would love for it to change from TV to GAME to DVD (not XboxOne but the dvd player in the house) then to MUSIC. What I was really expecting though was DVR capabilities.

I don't have negative thoughts about the XboxOne, just I won't support a console that has requires payment to repurchase a used game.

Microsoft did nothing to prevent the rumor's from getting out of control, hinted that something like this in the works during the reveal, then when the backlash started getting even larger sounds like there back peddling while claiming they never meant it in the 1st place.

Requiring the kinect to always be connected, then saying there would be privacy controls after the fact again (despite being able to see apps indicating it has to be on to launch some games) ruffled some feathers.

Also, demoing off your Game Console as a DVR / TV service as the reveal as the primary focus was a mistake generating some hate among some, however that should die down with E3 (provides Ms doesn't drop the ball with that).

I was personally uninspired with the design, it reminded me of a VCR, however boring design wouldn't prevent me from buying it.

And.... anti-Microsoft Xbox fans will use any negative to bash it, but the flipside is true with any negative Sony PS Fans.

The problem here is that Microsoft announced that the reveal was going to be about everything else the xbox one can do and they wanted to hold off on all the gaming stuff till E3 and no one seems to get that. Because they have not said anything about gaming like they said they would not untill E3 everyone seems to think gaming is an after thought for xbox one.

I for one love all the extra stuff it does. To be honest I play games but I watch a lot more tv and currently I use my wiiu or 360 for netflix and hulu to watch most of it otherwise it would barely get used when there is a lull in good games coming out. So the more it does and less I have to use something else the better. I dont like having 20 things under my tv.

this is true, good point made.

I'm intrigued by what's been shown so far and cautiously optimistic. I've stuck with Microsoft with the XBox and the 360, so I'll almost certainly get the One, once the initial problems are worked out (and maybe after a price drop or two). That's not a knock against MS - a lot of devices have problems with the initial batches and I'm in no huge rush. I'm happy enough with my 360 to want to stick with the XBox, but as long as Live supports the 360, it's not urgent to upgrade just yet.

MS has absolutely NO PR!!! First all the squabbling with MS's windows 8, then the issues with features of 8.1, Now the Pr about Xboxone...

There's plenty of communication about 8.1 recently. The gaming divison is most likely busy getting ready for E3 considering it's less than a week away.

Especially the design. Will look awesome in my TV stand.

Don't take it as insult, but I'd almost bet my life on you closing 40. That VHS look doesn't just fly.

Plus, you're way too calm about it to be part of the younger Internet generation. :D

I'm 34 and I don't care either way. It's just another box to add to the collection, I don't care what it looks like (though all my other kit is black, so hey why not.)

    • I'd say the first one failed to be as popular as Apple anticipated, but the easy adjustment here is to make fewer of them next time around. It would only be a "flop" if it isn't possible for Apple to recover the design and factory tooling costs given the number of units sold, which I doubt would be the case. It isn't like no one bought them; it just failed to become the new hot phone of the year.
    • You're right that it does not follow the plain meaning of the word, but in this context, it is a legal term defined in 49 U.S.C. Kind of how "wire fraud" laws apply even if a physical wire was not used. Given that it is codified in law, and it isn't just automotive journalists that don't understand evolving technology, I highly doubt congress would change a well understood term just because technology makes the term slightly less actuate.
    • This is exactly why I keep saying we are not ready for human free self-driving. These little "bugs" are may seem like random one-offs. There was also the Waymo that drove between police with drawn weapons and the suspect they were pointing them at. From a software perspective it is easy to understand how those extremely rare situations may not have been programed for, but that is the point. If AI needs to be told to watch out for every possible contingency, then it can never be successful. There will always be the possibility of a first encounter that the AI needs to understand to avoid.
