BBC One has given the green-light to a new Saturday night entertainment series from The Jim Henson Company titled The Puppet Game Show. The series, which has been described as part game-show and part sitcom, has been given an order for 8 forty-five minute episodes. The series is slated to bow on BBC One later this year.

The Puppet Game Show will feature a brand new cast of puppet characters who will invite two celebrity guests to enter their world. The guests will go head to head in a series of unique games run by the cast of characters and take part in a variety of sketches, in what will be a warm, cheeky, family affair fuelled by a healthy dose of off-the-wall, madcap fun. BBC sources have called the show an ?evolution? of their entertainment format No Strings Attached which was piloted last year. Dougie Colon (pronounced cologne) will host the show with each of the individual games run and hosted by a different puppet character, who is an expert in their field. In addition to the game show element in which the two celebrities go head-to-head to win ?10k for their chosen charity, the series will also feature a backstage sitcom which features all the puppet characters that we?ve met onstage and more, such as producer Mancie and the bullish show executive Udders McGhee. The Puppet Game Show is produced by BBC In-House Entertainment and The Jim Henson Company with Derek McLean and Brian Henson serving as the executive producers.
