Im looking to get a new computer monitor that i can also use to play xbox one/PS4 (but mainly computer use)

I have my eye on the Asus PB278Q https://www.asus.com...B278Q/#overview

Now the main problem im going to have with the next gen consoles is that they only support HDMI, my main question is will the audio from the console/HDMI pass through the monitor to the earphone jack?

the setup i use right now with my xbox is i go from a RCA to VGA converter http://www.xmods.co....vga-adapter.jpg

the Audio side of the RCA then goes into a 3.5mm adapter http://i01.i.aliimg....ee-shipping.jpg

then that goes into my computer speakers, because the new consoles dont have RCA that kinda messes up my setup :/

so yeah main question, does that monitor have audio pass through with HDMI

If no, what can i do to get audio from the next gen system to my computer speakers

i hope i made some sense with all that

I've played both an Xbox 360 and a PS3 on my Dell Ultrasharp Monitor, I also have speakers connected to my PC. What I do when I want to play a console is I use a 2nd AUX cable running from my Monitor to the speakers, any HDMI audio that would reach the monitor (it doesn't have speakers itself) is routed to my external speakers. This must mean Audio is reaching the monitor via HDMI and would play over the speakers on them.

I hope it's decent, but mine isn't.

hmm so it could be a bit hit and miss when it comes to quality audio.. well i guess its better than no audio

thank you both your help

if anyone else has feedback or input of a better way to get audio from a xbox one/ps4 to computer speakers please let me know

It looks like that monitor has a headphone jack. So you would just plug the hdmi cable into the monitor like normal, then plug your headphones/speakers into the jack and go. That's what i do with my monitor and my consoles(360 and wii) and it does the job fine.

It doesn't look like that monitor has any speakers, so you'll need some external ones. So it'd be easy to follow my route.

- Console connected to Monitor Via HDMI

- Monitor connected to speakers via Audio AUX cable

If you run this setup, sharing your monitor with your PC and Consoles, you can either get 2 AUX cables for simultaneous use, (Make sure you get speakers with at least 2 AUX inputs). Or have 1 cable, when you want to play on a console, you unplug it from your PC and plug that end into the AUX port on the Monitor.

my main worry that it has a 3.5mm audio input jack as well, making me worried that that might be the only way to get audio to the screen https://www.asus.com/media/global/products/kpVBmY9sj0Fe6k0l/z59JERrqhC3dcPFt_500.jpg

i think this is going to be the way to do it

also just for the heads up this monitor does have built in speakers.. but yeah... not going to use monitor speakers

According to the site, it has "twin built-in 3W speakers"

I'm sure it takes audio in from HDMI as well as the 3.5mm input.

Ah right, been up for 26 hours now, my concentration isn't the best at the moment, I scanned it quickly for an audio caption but didn't spot one at a glance, I'll go sit in my corner.

    • Ford execs say they made a mistake when they replaced human engineers with AI by David Uzondu Ford recently announced that over the last three years, it's had to rehire about 350 "gray beard" engineers to mentor younger staff and reprogram diagnostic systems and AI tools that were failing to meet up to quality expectations. The company's VP of vehicle hardware engineering, Charles **** said that leaders overlooked the deep experience of veterans who survived many product cycles. **** admitted that simply replacing them with AI was a huge mistake, and that while AI is "a fantastic tool," it remains "only as good as the information you use to train it." The rehired engineers now run mandatory meetings to troubleshoot vehicles and reprogram automated engineering software and AI tools to prevent glitches before production. These technical specialists hunt for failure points before parts ever reach the plant floor, helping prevent the massive recalls and defects that previously cost the company billions as it aims to cut one billion dollars in expenses this year. In last year's JD Power Quality Survey, an annual study that measures the quality of a car during the first three months of ownership, Ford finished 10th among mainstream brands and scored below the industry average. But this year, JD Power ranked the automaker as the top mainstream brand, placing it above the likes of Toyota Motor Corp. and Honda Motor Co. Ford attributed this massive improvement directly to the expertise of these returned engineers. Ford's realization that AI cannot magically design and test quality vehicles without senior human oversight is just the tip of the iceberg. When Careerminds looked at companies that conducted AI-driven layoffs, researchers found out that 35.6% of those companies had to rehire more than half of the employees they previously fired. Another 32.7% had to rehire between 25% and 50% of them. In 2024, Sebastian Siemiatkowski, CEO of Klarna, proudly announced that its new chatbot was doing the work of 700 full-time customer service agents. As a result, the fintech company froze hiring and cut hundreds of positions. But by mid 2025, and into 2026, Klarna was scrambling to recruit human agents again because customer satisfaction had plummeted. It turns out, while AI is very good at answering basic questions like how to check an account balance, when faced with complex customer issues that require nuance, the thing usually resorts to the unhelpful, robotic corporate jargon we all know and love.
