New PC. Corsair Builder CX600W 80+ Bronze or not?

Heu guys,

I am building a new budget PC and while i have everything sorted out i am kinda stuck on the PSU selection. First of all this is the full specifications of the PC i am building:

CPU: Intel Core i5 3570

MOBO: Gigabyte Z77M-D3H

RAM: Corsair Vengeance DDR3 4GB DIMM 1600Mhz

GPU: None.I'll be using the i5's integrated for the beginning until i can afford a seperate GPU

HD: WD 5000AAKX 500GB

PSU: Corsair Builder Series CX600W 80+ Bronze

Now i am aware that 600w are more than enough for the system and i could go below that but i don't really want to do that having feature upgrades on my mind. Also i can not go above 110 euros.

My question is, if the CX600W is a good quality PSU that will last for some years.

I was also thinking of the Corsair Enthusiast Series TX650 V2 650W 80+ Bronze Certified which is supposed to be better but i saw videos in which the fan was running loud that made me doubt about its quality. Here are the videos:

Also regarding the CX600W i couldn't find any reviews on the internet so if anyone owns that PSU maybe can give some insight.

I've got a corsair PSU and can defintatly back their quality....Mine runs almost silent - I've got the Corsair 850W HX Modular PSU - From corsairs website - "Corsair HX Series? modular power supply units are designed for gaming rigs, overclocking systems, or any PC where rock-solid stability is essential. HX Series PSUs have earned 80 PLUS? Gold certification to guarantee cool, efficient operation.

Im sure the only reason that the bronze is loud i because its their budget one..If you could spend a few more ?$? I'd recommend the HX series...Even a smaller one like a 650...Not sure of the pricing now though :)

Hey SickDave, thank you for the reply.

I was hoping for some info if anyone knows though about the CX600W.I understand that HX is a better more well build series but unfortunately i have already exceeded the money limit if i go with the TX650.

I am mostly between these two and since TX650 doesnt seem to be that better in terms of quality compared to the CX600W (unless i am wrong) i cant see why i should pay more for it and not get the CX600W for less money.

I have a TX650. TX is the normal level. HX is for modular PSU's. CX is the consumer level (build level).

If you dont mind me asking, for how long do you have the TX650 and have you noticed any of the fan noise like on the videos i posted or any other issues?

I think I had my TX650 since I upgraded to 1156. That was in early 2012, March or April. That was before the Rev. 2 version.

I never noticed any fan problems. But when you have 2x 250mm, 3x 120mm, and GFX fans, you never really notice it. Never gave me any problems.

None of quite a many CX (V2 series) of various output capacities, all CWT design, have failed thus far. It has been about a year since we've added them.

Might want to go with (relatively) new CX600M, too. Same platform.

Haven't seen that fan problem with some TX that have come my way.

That is quite useful info.Thx.

I have to say the low price of CX series is really tempting.

The only reason i am thinking of not going for the CX is i can't believe there is not one single review for it and regarding the TX the extra 40 euros for it must be for something...

Corsair doesn't make inner workings of units themselves. TX V1 made a big confusion at the time - Corsair switched from SeaSonic to CWT sometime in 2011, didn't tell anybody. Tbh, nobody ever does. Anyway, the one you see in the first video (pale yellow stickers) could be either. TX V2 (orange stickers) is SeaSonic again. Both Taiwanese, but SeaSonic is regarded a more premium brand, doesn't skimp on components by principle. Doesn't mean they won't fail (we see that fans have, apparently), but does raise the price.

Another thing over CX (in both CWT and SeaSonic design of TX) is independently regulated (TX) design vs group regulated (CX). The former generally means more stability of all kinds (clean voltage, transients, crossload) when overclocking or otherwise pushing the limits of the unit.

The last thing is 80+ efficiency. TX is rated Bronze (that is - just about 80% efficient at any load), CX isn't at all. Those pennies (or cents) that creep up in the electricity bill later for not having that no more than several percent advantage of TX won't, of course, even out the premium you'd pay for a more efficient unit right away. But it's of different importance for each of us.

Thanks for all the info.

 

After visiting the corsair forum and reading threads, I was ready to go with the CX series mainly beacuse i couldnt find any threads with problems for it.

On the other hand i found many threads with TX650, TX650v2 and generally the TX series problematic behaviour.

 

The CX is way too cheap however (whatever that means in terms of quality) and after reading what Phouchg said on the last post i think i am willing to risk it with the TX series...

I am fine if something happens to the PSU after some time.My main concern is not to destroy anything else with it in case it starts malfunctioning.

If you can buy a CX600M! I bought the M model, and it's modular, compared to the CX600. I can barely hear the PSU, and my build is very minimal - I have 4 fans total (CPU, Chasis fan, PSU fan, and video card fan)

I know, i would but the store where i am going to build the pc from doesnt have the CX600M and i don't want to build the thing myself because i want the warranty.

Unfortunately i am stuck with the CX600W and the TX650v2

      You are mostly right about the ephemeral nature of it. As I mention in the article, if you dont add a second device or take a backup of your account before uninstalling it, then yes you will lose access to your account. That said, in terms of actual user experience when you sync multiple devices your message history carries across and there's also a Saved Messages chat like there is on Telegram to send messages and attachments between your installs. But yh, what you point out are correct and its not trying to emulate Messenger or Telegram.

      OK so SearXNG is a meta search engine that you can install locally or use via a public instance. It scrapes other search engines which you choose and then sorts the results. Not as complicated as multiple relays

      The only difference here is that you think you came up with these reasons. You didn't.
