Team Viewer

Question

Anyone here use Team Viewer to RDP? I'm connecting to my laptop from my Surface RT, and was curious if there was a way to turn off the laptop's screen when I do, that way no one can see what I'm doing. I can't find a switch to do that, so my question is, is it possible?

Personally, I've never found anything that performs better than Windows built in remote desktop. But then I only ever use it on my local network.

I would like to achive the opposite, (which is possible with some file replacements, though I haven't been able to achieve lately), where by logging in via RDP does not log the current user out on the remote machine, because that user is me, I'm just not present.

So my roundabout answer is to use Windows RDP.

click on Actions once your logged in and click Disable remote input

then click on actions and click show black screen

How do I disable remote input from my Surface? Those screenshots don't help because they don't match to what's on my screen. NM. Found it. Will play around with this to see what it does.

EDIT: Still not working. Applied Set screen to black, but the screen is still on. If this is a feature I have to pay for, I will rage.

It be ****ing great if Microsoft just brought back Windows Live Mesh since them killing it off is what caused this mess to begin with. All I want is a simple RDP app so that I can remote into a webcam while I am away. Jesus Christ.

    • Yeah, this is absolutely nothing new and EA have done it before. Burnout Paradise, released in 2008, had dynamic advertising billboards that were updated via the internet and targeted people based on location and what EA knew about them from their profile. It was particularly notable for the fact that the Obama presidential campaign ran ads in the game, in an attempt to reach a younger audience who didn't watch broadcast TV any more. It was by no means the first though. Battlefield 2142 from 2006 had the same thing. In fact, Neowin wrote a story about it back then. https://www.neowin.net/news/ba...-in-game-ads-clarification/
    • This is obviously aimed at the education where Apple has lost so much ground to Chromebooks in the last few years, but unless they come up with a comparable management system for education why would anyone switch back?
    • Here's how we arrived at that claim: Note that this is just Play Store downloads. The app is also available on the Galaxy App Store
    • Google Play states the app had more than 50 million downloads. What other metric do you suggest should be used?
