What are some 'must have' Mac apps

I noticed in a lot of screenshots of other MacBooks that some people have a variety of different applications on their dock. I'm curious to know what are some "must have" apps for the Mac. I currently use the basic stuff like VLC player, Office, Chrome.

Caffeine and SMC Fan Control are really some must haves for me! :)

- smcFanControl (Fan control, temperature monitor)

- PathFinder (File manager)

- Vienna (RSS reader)

- Transmit (FTP/S3/... client)

- 1Password (Password manager)

- BetterZip (Traditional archiver tool, like WinZIP, WinRAR, etc)

- Boom (System wide volume booster and equalizer)

- DaisyDisk (helps visualize what is taking up space on your HDD)

 

Dev/design tools (if that's your sort of thing):

- Sketch (Vector graphics drawing)

- BBEdit (Text Editor)

- Querious (MySQL client)

- Cornerstone (SVN client)

- Dash (collection of docsets and code snippets)
