Remember The War Z? Now It Has A New Name

Recommended Posts

It?s been a while since we?ve heard news about The War Z, the controversial online zombie game that was kind of a mess in just about every possible way. So today?s news is kind of interesting: the folks behind The War Z are changing the game?s name to make it less like that other zombie MMO, DayZ.

Now it?s called? Infestation: Survivor Stories, which really does sound a lot less like DayZ.

Thanks Roman!

Changing the name doesn't change the content.

I wish I had more time to play this and people to play it with!

This game got a lot of bad press for being released before it was truly ready but overall I still like it and the devs "seem" to listen to the community and are always trying to work on bringing in the missing features etc.

It had a hint of a rant in your post, ;)

I remember the game vaguely, Felt like that failed attempt at an 8 player resident evil game that was on an early console I forget which so I wasn't interested at the time

God, now I feel old.

Outbreak?

Although I thought that was just single player with multiple characters involved.

Could be, been a while

Split screen? Was supposed to have online capabilities but then were dropped just before launch?

It had split screen, not sure about the online element thought, apparently there have been only 4 true split screen Res evil games...

Resident Evil: Outbreak (PS2)

Resident Evil: Outbreak: File 2 (PS2)

Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles (Wii)

Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles (Wii)

Ah. Lol. Nah, no ranting. I remember when this game came out awhile back and it was quite the cluster######. I thought some other people might be interested to know what was going on with it.

I kinda like what I've seen from your OP shame I can't get it, (I'm surprised my wife hasn't kicked me off this pc yet)

This is exactly why I don't read Kotaku. They've completely skipped the reason why it was renamed. It's not an attempt to sucker people into buying it because of the negative press. They were forced to because of a conflicting copyright name. The most obvious guess being World War Z releasing next week in cinemas. It's also not news, they mentioned this months ago.

Good ol' Kotaku

    • I need to understand the rationale of not shipping all of these K2 improvements in a single update/release. It's giving "we will fix Windows 11 but no commitments". It seems to me that they just announce these improvements just to appease the community.
    • The term "RTM" is long gone starting with Windows 10. Every current release is a GA build. This is the result of MS making Windows as a Service (WaaS).
