Pioneer AppRadio SPH-DA100

Does anybody know if the iPhone 5 supports bluetooth streaming music with this radio without having to be connected via cable?

Pioneer says no:

http://www.pioneer.eu/uk/products/25/299/35829/SPH-DA100/page.html, scroll down to 'How to connect your smartphone,' select 'iPhone 5' and then hit 'lookup.'

There's an 'X' under 'Bluetooth Audio Streaming (A2DP).'

But Halfords says yes:

'FEATURES & BENEFITS OF THE PIONEER SPH-DA100

The iPhone 5 can also be used for Bluetooth hands free calling and music streaming'

I'd be inclined to believe the manufacturer, but would be grateful if anyone who has it can confirm.

Thanks :)

Bluetooth on phones is all basically the same, so it should technically work for every bluetooth phone out there.

The only difference might be that the audio information might not be displayed on the Pioneer display.

In theory you're right, of course, but in practice, some devices simply won't play ball, or randomly disconnect periodically.

Just hoping someone who's actually tried this combination can confirm it works properly. The manufacturer does say it doesn't work, so there must be a reason for it!

Cheers

Had you asked about the FH80BT, I would have said yes

Though it needed a bluetooth software upgrade, I'm inclined to say yes to this also, but this would be a guess at best.

Thanks.

I might just see if there's one I can test in store or buy it and return it if it doesn't work via Bluetooth.

If you're near a Halfords, you could ask them for a demonstration, and pair up your phone, if it works, great, if not, you haven't lost anything. They should be able to help if tbe store's one of the bigger ones, and you can convince them of a sale if it works the way you intend for it.

If you're going down the buy and return, try to make sure it's under 24 hours. :)

I went past one today but had other stuff to do so I didn't get around to going in, but I've read more about it and bluetooth streaming is one of the new features in the AppRadio 3, which hasn't been released in the UK yet. There's also a few complaints about the lack of A2DP in the AppRadio2, so I think Halfords is just wrong!

I might just set up my car so there's a dock I just have to drop my phone in to connect to it via lightning. The thing I don't like about my current setup is having to set up the cable, cradle etc.

I have the original AppRadio, only thing that streams via bluetooth is phone calls. I thought I'd like it but haven't to keep my phone connected all the time turned out to be a disappointment. I'd like to just hop in my vehicle I drive. Hopefully AppRadio 3 can eliminate some of the things I dislike.

    • Happens to the best of us, bro. 😛
    • Thanks to some of the other recent Windows improvements, I'm optimistic about this one. My quick wishlist would be: perf like the older menu, merge both menus or at the very least, the older menu should be a flyout, not a simulated click to the old menu, and lastly, a customization window to let users move items from one menu to another, so I could bring Send To back to the main menu, and the OneDrive settings to the older.
    • This Gigabyte AMD RX 9070 XT is very good deal despite the launch of 9070 GRE by Sayan Sen Recently we reviewed AMD's latest 1440p gaming card, the Radeon RX 9070 GRE 12GB, for $549. The card is in stock too at that price, though if you want significantly better performance and don't mind spending a bit more, the Gigabyte Gaming model of RX 9070 XT is currently on sale for just $650 (purchase link under the specs table down below). The card employs Gigabyte's WINDFORCE cooling system which combines multiple design elements such as alternate-spinning Hawk fans, a vapor chamber, and composite heat pipes to manage heat dissipation. The Server-grade Thermal conductive gel further helps in this department. The inclusion of a semi-passive cooling mode allows the fans to remain inactive under low workloads, which allows for reduced noise operation during lighter usage. There is dual BIOS switch that allows toggling between performance and silent modes. The technical specifications of the Gigabyte Radeon RX 9070 XT GAMING OC 16G are given in the table below: Specification Value Core Clock Boost Clock: up to 3060 MHz Game Clock: up to 2520 MHz Stream Processors 4096 Memory Clock 20 Gbps Memory Size 16GB Memory Type GDDR6 Memory Bus 256-bit Card Bus Interface PCI Express 5.0 Maximum Resolution 7680 × 4320 Multi-View Support 4 displays Card Dimensions L=288 mm, W=132 mm, H=56 mm Recommended Power Supply 750W Power Connectors 3 × 8-pin Video Outputs 2 × DisplayPort 2.1a 2 × HDMI 2.1b Get it at the link below: GIGABYTE Radeon RX 9070 XT Gaming OC 16GB Graphics Card, GV-R9070XTGAMING OC: $649.99 (Sold and Shipped by Amazon US) (Was: $740) This Amazon deal is US-specific and not available in other regions unless specified. • Why does this kind of tactic not surprise me?
    • They used AI based TOOLS to convert the JavaScript engine (the main rendering engine is still C++) and it was not fully automated but was human reviewed. Other subsystems will be looked into to also be converted to Rust in the future. I have no problem with any of that.
