Neowin Button for IE toolbar for u all!

[Sleeper Veteran]

I have created this reg file which will add a button to the IE toolbar which will take you direct to the Neowin Forums.

Unzip the file and place neowin.ico and neogray.ico in C:Windows and then run the NeoIcon.reg once this is done close any open IE windows then relauch it, u may have to right click and then custimize and drag the icon over so that it shows :)

At the moment the icon included is a XP icon only, but i am hoping to release a version suitable for all :)

Hope you don't mind but I made the regular icon the neowin.ico and the hoticon neogrey.ico and made it go directly to neowin.net instead of the forms.

put the neowin icons in the windir and double click the .reg file

then right click the IE toolbar select customize and add the neowin icon from the list

I changed mine to point at https://www.neowin.net/bboard/search.php?s=...=&action=getnew so I can see the new posts with the click of a button.

i got the icon to appeare but it doesnt do anything

all i changed was were the icons were located

hmm not sure about that one, have u ran the .reg file again?

I've been playing around with the icon so that it is compatible with Windows 2000/98/Me etc but it seems that the toolbar only supports 16 colours and im having real difficulty getting the icon to look decent in this colour format. Anychance someone could lend a hand?

Did you right click on the tool bar and choose customize then drag the icon to the column on the right?

I have managed to get the 24x24 icon looking ok for the Win98/ME/2000/NT version, but as soon as u change the icons to Small (16x16) the colour drops from 256 to 16? any ideas anyone?

When i get home from work i will post the MSDN article that shows you how to do it and the app the generates the GUSID :) or i will take some requests, but to be honest its fairly straight forward. once you have the GUSID generator.

I'm not sure if it's me but I downloaded the icon zip file and tried to extract it using XP's unzip and it said corrupted file.

I have the same shortcut mtgriffith mentioned on my links bar and you can also change the icon shortcut too; if you don't want to use the .reg file.

It should open the page in the current window, well it does on mine atleast. how about everone else?
