What do you call rolls?

So someone at work said "barm cake" whe holding a bread roll yesterday, and had to explain herself. So what do you call one of these?

Normally a roll, but I have been know to call them baps too.....hehehe....nice baps.

A combination of rolls, buns and baps. If it's a burger I'll call it a bun, if it's got bacon in it I'll call it a bap, if it's just regular other sandwich filler inside I'll call it a roll.

Batch and Cob are different types of roll.

A cob or a roll.  However I go by:

 

Cob = Crusty.

Bap = Soft, maybe floury.

Roll = Finger "hotdog" roll.

 

But generally I will call that ^ a roll, even though I should call it a bap.

at the risk of being the odd one out, we call them a "barm" here, to call them a "barm cake" would get you some very strange looks indeed :D

Although I like the word baps. I like calling a women's breasts, baps. If a woman was holding bread rolls, I might say "nice baps".

In the form that the picture shows, it's a roll.  If you slice it in half and put something between it, then it's a bun.

That's how I see it, at least.
