Windows 8.1 & Logitech Gaming Software hangs during install

Recommended Posts

So, fired up win 8.1 rtm, with the latest Logitech Gaming Software (LGS_8.50.281_x64) for my G19 keyboard, and G35 headset, and during the install my pc just hangs!

Had these issues ages back, but with LGS v8.45 seemed to work fine.

I also had no issue installing 8.45 on 8.1 CP, but this rtm version wont install LGS.... Anyone else having these issues???

I tried some other suggested things from the Logitech community forums, to uninstall Nvidia drivers... but no joy!

If anyone has the same issues, or a solution / suggestion i could try ... that would be greatly appreciated! :)

Yup, tried compat mode for win7, and win8... run as admin.. no luck!

@xbamaris - what version of lgs you running?? are you also running nvidia gfx? or amd?? :)

Try version 8.4.0, it's the one I use (Although I am still running 7)

Thanks Dush, Ill give it a go!

Had a crackling in the left speaker of my G35, logitech is sending out brand new replacement... nice! :)

I was trying to figure out how to send it to you here, it's almost 60 meg, (because Logitech have updated so finding older versions aren't as easy now)

edit

Correction, I'm using 8.40.83, my apologies

Updated from 8 to 8.1 leaving my settings and apps in place and my existing install of LGS 8.45 is still working at least.

Yeah, on 8.1 preview, the 8.43 drivers installed and worked perfectly... on RTM though... nothing! probably going to have to consider going back to 8.1 preview, or 8 ... and wait it out! :)

Ok, now that is annoying......... redid my pc, installed Win8 fresh.... and tried to install the LGS 8.50.281 - hang... had to hard reboot. Installed 8.45.88 (which worked perfectly before) HANGING WINDOWS! argh...........

Busy doing updates, then will enable .Net 3.5 and see if that helps.....

Right..... I HAVE GOT IT FIXED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You wont believe this.... BUT...................... Shutdown windows........ unplug your CD/DVD drive (yes.... i know) ................ power on, install LGS..... IT BLINKING WELL WORKS!

Shutdown again... plug CD/DVD drive back in.......

JOB DONE!

Logitech.... WTF have you done?

    • I tried to get the latest secureboot certificate for my old Dell 7010 Optiplex machine.   I restored the default settings to Secure Boot. Big mistake.  Now when secure boot is on. The machine doesn't boot and complains about no booting devises.  The computer's secure boot can't find where to boot and the information apparently has to be entered manually.  Secureboot's settings are now years old and it can't find a new configuration.  What could be done here? There are plenty of files to choose from in the secureboot menu, but I don't know what to put there for each of the four Windows 11 upgraded from 10..... originally who knows what (used machine) without secureboot it booting normally
    • I see you're still rocking that g700 mouse
    • They need to follow the standard for AAA game but they will go at lowest level for triple a game because will sell more, earn kudos and the milk it for years anyway. look how much they milked gta 5 and how they milked the original 3 - San Andreas and vice city. it is probably going to be a fun game but then they allowed someone to remake classics that somehow were more broken and worse then original i hope they don’t ###### up this one!!!
    • In addition to the "sidebar app list" and "Collections" features, Microsoft will also deprecate the "Drop" feature. Before you publish this news and credit another site, here is the original source: https://x.com/i/status/2067838711870439583 .
