I say that anyproduct that I require to use "patches" to recover what I had before is doomed, so Win 8 still a fail for me, is just that some users are kind enough to do the patch :D

so you meant to same, everything should be done by MS only?

Assume Windows 8 provides Aero feature and someone writes a mod to disable it and you like it. The concludes Windows 8 is doomed?

Yes, I agree that Windows 8 still needs much refinement, doesn't mean it's doomed. You can make it better by using it not by ignoring it

It applies to everyone, just as the PS3 removing Otheros for example. It's the action, not the fact that MS does it or not.

@ Squuiid, the up down meter is  http://www.floriangilles.com/software/netspeedmonitor/, enable compatibility mode for it to work, besides that there is no problem on win8.

I got 20keys, sent me a pm with your pc code for a key ;)

First to tell me where to actually enter the key to activate the donation version will get the first key xD

Did you go to this URL and enter your machine code? I was under the understanding that once you did it automatically generated you a registry file to download and merge

nope it didn't I got a "license.key"  file which I don't know how to use...

Can you no longer merge .key files in Windows 8? The only other thought that occurs is to pop it in the folder with the DLLs but I presume you've already tried that?

Nope I was dumb lol

That worked, I just had to put the license.key file in the aeroglass folder xD

Still have around 20 keys left btw

20 keys to what ? This project is not open source ?

Idkw if it's opensource but it shows a popup everytime on startup and you can disable those popups by adding a license key file which I got quite a few of after a donation ;)

oh

you should keep yourself some licenses

No, it cannot. License is dependent on your CPU model and your HDD/SSD. License can be used only on the computer which it was generated for. However, everyone gets at least two licenses to be used as you want - you can use the second license for the different computer and leave it for the future upgrade of your PC. When you upgrade your HDD or CPU, you will need new license. The license stays same when you upgrade other hardware.

I do, I just don't have that many pc's so I'm giving away some keys, I just donated a bit more then 3 usd to hopefully motivate the person working on this project ^^

You all just put your license.key file in the aeroglass folder and you stopped getting the donation pop-up??? I did that, and I'm still getting the pop-up. Very annoying. After multiple restarts trying to make Aero Glass recognize the .key file, I even ran the Setup again, hoping that would do the trick, but no luck.

Any help with this would be appreciated. Thx.

Its a shame it has not been updated to be Windows 8.1 compatible. :(

I'm getting crazy of all these people demanding windows 8.1 compatible stuff while windows 8.1 hasn't been (officially) released yet....

The preview has been out for awhile now, so you would think developers would update their software before Windows 8.1 RTM gets released to the public.

    • Does anyone here know if these updates are integrated into the UUP dump isos?

    • NVIDIA officially supports Ubuntu, as linked above with the GeForce NOW Hands on I did in collaboration with Paul Hill.
    • TO be clear I am not running linux today, however I keep thinking about it. And I want to make sure there are minimal obstacles if I decide to make that switch in the coming months.
    • Yes, I actually glossed over the Linux part from the OP. You could always go for a 9070 XT and if you really want to play Ray Traced games in the future, GeForce Now is pretty damn good on Linux https://www.neowin.net/news/nvidias-native-geforce-now-app-for-linux-bridges-the-gaming-gap-hands-on/
