there is also an application that I use called stylexpservice.exe that lets you use non-windows styles. it's 20 bucks but it comes with cool styles and allows you to turn it on and off as needed. And allows quick style changes without going into windows/resources/themes. free 30 day trial with nagware after that.

After the patch my pc is very SLOW at BOOTUP! Before i install the patch my bootup is fast but after it takes forever to bootup. I have tested by removing and installign and i see the differneces.

What gives?

os:win2k3 server

I've personally found more success in this program

Damn.

And yes Mr magoo I can confirm this one does not work with the offical WinXP Sp1 Beta 1. :(

It even kills the standard three microsoft themes.

Anyways in case if anyone needs the orignal uxtheme:

http://home.sc.rr.com/newbieslair/uxtheme-orginal.dll

But at least stylexp 2.0 works great with winxp sp2 beta 1. Any news on a new uxtheme?

cya,

Will

It seems like there's some regsitry detection problem on XPSP2 beta. Thus this, could someone save HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion (Without Subkey data) on XPSP2 Beta OS and post it here please?

Sure.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion]
"CurrentBuild"="1.511.1 () (Obsolete data - do not use)"
"InstallDate"=dword:3f736afc
"ProductName"="Microsoft Windows XP"
"RegDone"=""
"RegisteredOrganization"=""
"RegisteredOwner"=""
"SoftwareType"="SYSTEM"
"CurrentVersion"="5.1"
"CurrentBuildNumber"="2600"
"BuildLab"="2600.xpsp_sp2_beta1.031215-1745"
"CurrentType"="Uniprocessor Free"
"CSDVersion"="Service Pack 2, v.2055"
"SystemRoot"="C:\\WINNT"
"SourcePath"="D:\\I386"
"PathName"="C:\\WINNT"
"ProductId"=""
"DigitalProductId"="
"LicenseInfo"="
"SubVersionNumber"=""
"CSDBuildNumber"="2055"

is this a definite change or there's an option to uninstal lthe changes this does ?

-----------------------

nevermind, it is, but then if i understand correctly, if i want to patch windows after having patched uxtheme, i need to unpatch that file first?

Actually... this is where I got confused... :( :huh:

    • Recycle Bin has been broken for literal YEARS now. The setting to delete files older than 30 days from the bin which is on by default doesn't even work. I have files older than 4 months in it and they are just there still...

    • Isn’t it so sweet Microsoft after so many years of neglect, they admit to these issues in Windows lately? Doesn’t this just make you wanna run out and meet them halfway to give them a warm hug only? Just gives us this warm fuzzy feeling thinking about it. /s
