there is also an application that I use called stylexpservice.exe that lets you use non-windows styles. it's 20 bucks but it comes with cool styles and allows you to turn it on and off as needed. And allows quick style changes without going into windows/resources/themes. free 30 day trial with nagware after that.

kind of sounds like a rip compared to StyleXP to me :whistle:

oh yeah a rip all the way but it does offer legitimacy to paying for it. It hasn't caused any system instability or anything and it comes with several cool themes not just styles that are really well thought out.

After the patch my pc is very SLOW at BOOTUP! Before i install the patch my bootup is fast but after it takes forever to bootup. I have tested by removing and installign and i see the differneces.

What gives?

So to clarify, can someone else please verify that patchxp (above) works on Windows XP SP2 Beta (initial release); also, has anyone else found alternatives?

I have to do the patch in safe mode or don't click reboot just wait for it to do it itself.

And yes Mr magoo I can confirm this one does not work with the offical WinXP Sp1 Beta 1. :(

It even kills the standard three microsoft themes.

Anyways in case if anyone needs the orignal uxtheme:

But at least stylexp 2.0 works great with winxp sp2 beta 1. Any news on a new uxtheme?

I got that Windows NT error so I tried out PatchXP and I still can't use themes, can anyone help me out?

It seems like there's some regsitry detection problem on XPSP2 beta. Thus this, could someone save HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion (Without Subkey data) on XPSP2 Beta OS and post it here please?

It's an per-computer basis, as configuration will dictate the necessary course of action.
