Hello

 

Some may or may not remember me but as you see Ive been here since 2003. I got banned for two main reasons: Warez and making arguments.

 

I want to apoligize to all the Neowin community, both members and staff that has had to put up with me, in the past and when I made dupes just to view/post forums. Most of the dupes Ive been banned have been because at the end of the day, Neowin staff knows the IP location and well, how everyone writes....

 

I sent Neowin a email the other day stating how long I have been banned (well over 5 years) and that I was tired of hiding behind dupes and the only reason I really did it because I didnt have a timeframe on when this account got unbanned. If I knew, I would just waited it out and lurked.

 

That being said, when I contacted Neowin and they told me one of the reasons I got banned was warez I was "shocked" because I wouldnt think of daring to post any warez on any nonwarez public site today. Its one of those moments where you realize how immature you were (and I still am no doubt) and stupid things you did and said back in the day. Those mistakes I cannot take back so you have to live with them and simply hope they dont come back to haunt you in the past.

 

Now with arguments, I still have to learn that its not worth fighting over stangers on the internet. I do it less and less and simply asked mods to close the topic as it was going nowhere. I think I should still argue even less but I will work on that and pay far more attention to the mods.

 

Ive seen Neowin grow to a great community with its up and down moments but there is so much information, (some) news articles that intrest me, and since 2004-2005 Ive had this since my home page. I still like being here.

 

As a thank you for unbanning me, Ive went ahead and gotten a Tier1 subscription. Neowin has helped me so many times, least I can do is give some back.

 

Well, I hope I can help out the community as my true self and finally respect the rules how they are written.

Personal growth is always to be applauded :)  Welcome back :)

 

As for arguments - I don't suffer fools at all, and moreover I hate fools who assume everyone is as foolish as them.  It REALLY pushes my buttons, and I need to calm down and just walk away.

I'm glad you were given a second chance. (Everyone deserves a second chance)

Something I can agree with. I can think of several banned members who deserve a second chance. Return of teh Snyper, anyone? :shifty:

You and me shared a generation :) I remember Snyper perfectly.....

 

Ive been given a second chance but a ban for me was coming (back then we were on warning levels). I just simply argued over dumb worthless stuff. I was temp banned way too many times and finally I got banned forever. And like I mentioned its been 5 years at least since I was banned so this chance is huge for me personally.

 

Also shows the admin staff isnt that bad. I pleded my case to one of them and he understood. Now I cant let him, the rest of the staff, or Neowin down. Any dupes or long time banned Neowin members, I suggest to contact Neowin and talk to them. They are understandable (as long as your case is understandable too obviously)

 

Ive made a few topics and replies and it feels so good not having to change your writing style or think "if I reply again, it will be too fast and they will catch on that it is me".

 

I hope the next positive contribute I make to Neowin is a product review: Either a NAS or the Motorola Droid 5.

Welcome back! It was very noble of you to give so many kind words to staff and Neowin as a whole. Maturity comes with time and it's obvious you waited a while.

 

Just remember when you are thinking of getting in an argument, instead of replying and stooping to their level, report it (if it's a violation) and choose to reply to someone else that had something meaningful and constructive to add to the discussion.

You're not the only one bud, I've found it hard to rise above an argumentative post, specially when it's directed at me, but as it's on the screen, best to just report said user and move on, heck, the user you report may have already been warned about such postings and probably could do with a ban themselves.

 

That being said, welcome back :)

It takes a lot of willpower to take responsibility for your mistakes and commit to making a measurable improvement. Although I have not been around Neowin long enough to remember you, I instantly gained a lot of respect for you when I read your reintroductory post. Don't post in the heat of an argument; reply when you are calm and reasonable and you will find it much easier to be a good member of the community. Good luck.

      I'm too old to return to the "good old days" when I was installing custom ROMs and tinkering with my devices - now I just want to turn it on and use it.       NVIDIA announces 35 new AI HPC supercomputers across Europe by Fiza Ali NVIDIA has announced that 35 AI high-performance computing (HPC) supercomputers are planned to open throughout Europe this year. This marks what the company describes as the largest single-year expansion of AI infrastructure in the history of the continent. These new systems, unveiled at ISC High Performance 2026, will be placed at a number of national supercomputing centres, AI factories, and research institutes to provide advanced computing resources to more than three million researchers. Describing AI, NVIDIA founder and CEO Jensen Huang stated, "AI is the new instrument of science, and Europe is building the infrastructure to put it in the hands of millions of researchers." Built on NVIDIA's Blackwell and Hopper architectures, the new systems will support research in climate science, healthcare, clean energy, quantum computing, and other scientific fields. Among the major projects are the Barcelona Supercomputing Center's MareNostrum 5 AI upgrade, BavariaAI's Blue Swan platform in Germany, Italy's IT4LIA AI factory, Germany's HammerHAI project, and Sweden's Mimer AI Factory. The Barcelona Supercomputing Center plans to expand MareNostrum 5 with NVIDIA GB300 NVL72 and GB200 NVL4 systems. In total, the BSC expects to deliver up to 20 exaflops of AI training performance and 33 exaflops of AI inference performance. This increased computational capability will support research efforts related to climate modelling, biotechnology, energy systems, etc. Furthermore, as part of the IT4LIA project, more than 8,000 GPUs, each based on NVIDIA’s GB200 NVL4 architecture, will be used in Italy. This represents one of the largest AI factory initiatives announced to date. Additionally, the Blue Swan platform from BavariaAI will include about 1,000 GPUs to help develop multimodal AI models for use in the medical field, robotics, and various areas of scientific research. NVIDIA also emphasized in the announcement how rapidly growth of accelerated computing usage is taking place within both energy and climate-related research. The company said Siemens Energy uses NVIDIA-powered technologies to significantly accelerate the process of designing and simulating hydrogen-capable gas turbines. Using those same acceleration technologies, Siemens was able to reduce simulation time by up to 77 percent. The company also highlighted several quantum computing initiatives across Europe. CINECA, EuroHPC, and Pasqal are integrating a quantum processing unit into Italy's CINECA supercomputing centre using NVIDIA's CUDA-Q platform. Meanwhile, researchers at Germany's Julich Supercomputing Centre recently simulated a universal 50-qubit quantum computer on the JUPITER supercomputer. The announcement demonstrates Europe's continued commitment to building out its infrastructure supporting AI and supercomputing as governments, research organizations, and technology companies compete to build out their respective computing capacities and secure their positions in advanced scientific research.
