ive got a s400 and you cant change the F number on, but you can do what i do and thats focus in close on an object in macro mode than frame the picture so more background is showing this will create a blurred background. like so...

This is such a clich? image but i couldn't resist taking it. There was much airtraffic at that moment. Some 4-5 planes crossing almost the same airspace. This plane was flying lowest and it happened to go in front of the moon. I was having a walk in the woods with a tele attached to my camera in case some nice birds would show up, the moon was up high while the sun was almost setting. Image is cropped in half and resized alot.

wow do you have that pic in a larger resolution?

Got a question guys... I have a Canon PowerShot G5 as well and have a question on Macro photography. How do you know when you need it? Does it just allow you to focus closer to the object? Thanks.

i have the s400 - i'm not familiar with the g5 - so this is from my experience. use your macro when you wanna zoom in on a small object or get some monster detail on something. you have to hold the camera pretty close to the object 2-3" or so (for what i do anyway), flash turned off, manual mode, and hold the button until the little focus boxes appear on your screen and then snap the pic. you have to be careful of your hands shaking. just keep playing with it until you get comfy...

Thanks Anita! I guess it was more a generic question on what the macro mode is since from my understanding, it seems to be to zoom closer to objects that the normal zoom can't get closer to without bluring the picture. Now to find some things to take pictures of...

Macro is usually for close ups like you mentioned. You are the one who decides whether you need it or not. The G5 is a manual capable digicam so its up to you. Flowers, face close ups, coins, anything. Usually there is a limit on how far you must be from the subject; this varies from every camera.

    • 26H2 absolutely will support ARM Windows just not on devices that came with 26H1. This is evident by the fact I am running 26H2, which on my MacBook Neo and Surface Pro 12 (inch), within a VM.

    • The FIFA World Cup is not US centric.
    • It’s amusing how Microsoft is pushing IT admins as if this was a major, game-changing update. In reality, it’s just an enablement package that bumps the build number, which is disappointing compared to the more substantial 22H2 and 24H2 releases. Technically, 25H2, 26H1, and the upcoming 26H2 are essentially the same, differing only in support schedules. They could have included the Windows K2 improvements here, but chose not to. The era of Windows being in the backburner continues, and this 26H2 release feels like an afterthought. Shame, Nadella, shame.
    • Microsoft, totally not confusing /s 25H2 - Current for non-Arm based Windows 26H1 - Current for Arm based Windows 26H2 - Only for non Arm Windows
