Yes I used pendrive linux and it was simple and easy :). However I did not know what persistant file was so I did not make one. I guess I will format my thumb drive and install it again for persistant file as I would like to save programs and changes to my thumb drive and its reason why I got 32 bit for this. Hopefully this is easy to do with persitant file option create.

IT WORKED!!! Just disabled "Quiet Boot " the description on it says it just gets rid of the " acer startup screen" so figured it would not work if it just shows the specs and gets rid of the acer splash screen but it worked !

Linux boots up on the thumb drive!! Thanks so much you guys especially to Brando and Landwehr.  :)  Thanks for checking back up on me etc and not giving up. Yay!!!!

Now I just have to find out if I can saves files and install programs on my linux thumb drive 32 gig or if I can only " run"  linux from it.

Big help guys!!

At least, we know the probable problem in the future. I'm sure this is quite common. I honestly should have realized considering my UEFI laptop won't even let me go to BIOS interface let alone boot anything but the default device when enabled. I have to disable it using Toshiba utilities if I want to the BIOS (I don't actually know what the Toshiba calls it, fastboot/quickboot/quietboot).

It's called a USB flash drive, not a "thumb drive".

  Are you one of those people who argues about the definition of 'emulator' also?

There's nothing to argue about, it's absolutely called a USB flash drive.

Whatever you say. People say Thumb/Pen/Flash/Stick/key/etc. There are no standard words you are required to say when referring to a USB Key. Even the PenDrive Linux software designed for Flash Drives doesn't use the term Flash.

USB flash drive is absolutely the correct term.

Most of the others were brand names at one point or another. Brand names of USB flash drives.

It may be true that some of the terms were brand names, but it simply doesn't matter.  In modern usage any of those terms means USB thumb drive. Language is fluid and ever evolving construct and meaning is rarely set in stone.

Interestingly, if any of those terms had ever been trademarked companies would have lost the right to them since the usage is ubiquitous and synonymous at this point in time. This isn't a new phenomena: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_generic_and_genericized_trademarks

We call it a thumb drive in my part of the world because it means that it is portable. They also sell USB flash drives here that are not portable but are flash technology SSD and go thru USB while portable they do not fit in pocket.

So this term is used to differentiate. Yes im sure a better term could be used to thumb drive but its what they are called here for the pocket size ones.
