Got a beta code, 30GB download... FS! Screw my 3.5mb connection.

Interesting.. the US version is only 21gb. Only..

This will be the MMO to end all other MMOs if they don't screw this up. They need to do extremely well in beta and keep the content coming. I tried the previous beta and it was nice. When it goes live my focus will be the crafting system if it is good and not watered down. Not too hard like Aion's where you have to proc an item 4 times in a row to get something good but not worthless like crafting is in Rift.

What makes you say that? Just about everything I've heard about the game is that it's disappointing in most ways that count.

The thing I'm most interested in seeing is how their mega server and RvR are gonna work. Beyond that the aesthetic of the game and the game play all looks pretty uninspired.

But like I said earlier..maybe I'll be surprised and actually like it. I'll probably be playing the beta this weekend.

Same here and I'm in the UK.

All of my friends that completed the eligibility process for beta consideration have been given these keys so it must be everyone who was eligible is getting one! Really starting to feel like it might be 5 mins online then 2 hours of servers crashing then trying to login and the login servers going down and blah blah. Oh well :P

A friend of mine tried out the last beta and I'm pretty sure that's exactly what happened. They couldn't get on to play it. I had a key for the last beta too so I was glad I didn't bother downloading it after hearing that.

Played a few days of the beta. Its a well done mmorpg. Nothing new but really solid. But it's not that great.

Compared to the last final fantasy online last year what ever number it was, it kinda sucks and is bland. It pales in every way.

Then again, FFXIV:AAR kind of sucks donkey. I hope that doesn't mean TESO sucks even more.

when i originally downloaded the game a few months ago it only took about 3 hours to download the near 30Gb of data at the time. I see the client size is actually smaller now. Hopefully this time around the game will be much better but it was a horrible experience before.

Combat sucks.

Animations suck.

Player models suck.

UI sucks.

No indication of what to do for quests.

Player progression is bland.

How will this end all other MMOs? It's no where the feeling of what makes the Elder Scrolls game fun.

To me this game looks extremely bland as far as the armor design and character designs go. The game play also looked uninteresting as well. I think I will avoid it for the first 2 or 3 months to see how it goes.

I feel like the game will sell really well though because people are going to expect it to be Skyrim but online. And I also feel like it will die really fast because people will realize it's in fact not skyrim.

I may be surprised though.

If you enjoyed Skyrim, you'll probably love this one even more.

To many if not most Elder Scrolls fans, as long as it's as close as possible to Skyrim but with other real people they will be extremely happy, because that's all we really want, if you go in thinking WoW killer or something like that, then yest it will be completely disappointing

Why do you say that? This game looks nothing like Skyrim. Unless you are being sarcastic?

But the thing is what makes Skyrim such an amazing game with so much longevity and replayability is that it can be modded. You can't mod an mmo, not like you can with Skyrim with user created content adding new weapons, armor, areas, quests, and all that goodness.

I think people will buy this expecting Skyrim 2.0 and be severely disappointed when they don't get it.

I see this as a merger of all the EOS worlds, combined with the gameplay of Skyrim, only vastly enhanced.  I may be wrong though but that's the impression I get from this game.

Combat sucks. Combat is going to be a pretty subjective thing in an MMO. I find it more than adequate as it is, especially for a beta.

Animations suck. You mean like in most Elder Scrolls games? Unless you mod it. Either way, animations are fine, not sure why you think they suck.

Player models suck. Again, Elder Scrolls games aren't quite known for amazing graphics let alone player models - unless modded again. Again, I find them fine.

UI sucks. Totally disagree with you on this one. The UI is WAY improved in ESO. It's an actual, functional UI unlike the crapfests we've gotten lately in the other games.

No indication of what to do for quests. Not sure what game you've been playing but my maps show where to go and the quest log says quite clearly what to do.

Player progression is bland. I will agree with you on this one, but only because I've only been able to play to a fairly low level and haven't been able to use other weapons etc.

How will this end all other MMOs? It's no where the feeling of what makes the Elder Scrolls game fun. The game is literally a MMO version of an Elder Scrolls single player game. They've gone out of their way to make it feel like a single player game to begin with, with the MMO trappings as an added bonus for those who want it.

It looks nothing like Skyrim.  :s

This is true. It looks way better than Skyrim. Mainly because they aren't using the 10 billion year old Gamebryo engine anymore for ESO. Maxed out, the game looks stunning to me.

Well what were you referring to then? Art style wise or environmentally?

I think he meant that in general ESO doesn't look to be the same as Skyrim, not refering to the visuals :P

    • Microsoft adds new AI study and teaching tools for free to Microsoft 365 Education by Karthik Mudaliar Microsoft is expanding its footprint into the classroom with a new suite of AI-powered study and teaching tools for Microsoft 365 Education. Rather than pushing these features as premium add-ons, the company is rolling out many core features at no additional cost to existing customers. The update brings new tools such as 'Copilot Notebooks' and 'Study and Learn Agents' into Microsoft's Education suite. Copilot Notebooks is essentially an AI-powered workspace where students can ground answers with their own learning materials, similar to Google's NotebookLM. The study and learning agents would allow students to learn concepts more visually, along with interactive practices and real-time feedback. For the last few years, educational institutions have struggled to implement practical guardrails for the usage of large language models. The new tools from Microsoft are a push towards providing those guardrails natively within the apps that the students and teachers already use every day. For teachers, the new 'Unit Plans' within the dedicated 'Teach' agent would allow them to rapidly generate structured curriculum frameworks grounded in established learning science, cutting down hours of preliminary lesson planning. Microsoft is also introducing 'Learning Groups' in Assignments that would help educators automatically categorize students based on performance data. With 'Learning Zones', teachers can then tailor assignments to different comprehension levels. It should be noted that Microsoft is making Learning Zone accessible for a one-year trial across all Windows 11 devices, while quietly incentivizing school districts to upgrade their legacy hardware and lock further into the Windows ecosystem. Of course, Microsoft is doing this as part of a broader ambition. Just last year, the company made waves when it brought its 365 Copilot to the education sector for $18 a month, introducing premium tiers with standalone conversational agents. However, gating all AI features behind a per-user subscription left a massive gap of students without access to official, school-sanctioned AI tools. Now that the features are inside the base Microsoft 365 Education suite for free, the company is effectively subsidizing the AI training of its next generation of power users. Microsoft’s own data, released alongside these tools in its 2026 AI in Education Report, indicates that while over 90% of students are using AI, nearly 80% lack formal training. Lastly, Microsoft is also expanding its "Elevate for Educators" training program, developed in partnership with organizations like ISTE and ASCD. This ensures that the teachers tasked with policing and guiding this new technology actually understand how to use it themselves.

    • Nah. It has/had it's quirks that are either usual for every Windows version or a non-issue, like its easily bypassable requirements, raw launch state, broken updates and inclusion of AI, but past that, it's received tons of improvements especially in the last couple years, and we're now looking forward to 26H2 and the K2 program with a ton of QoL improvements, so it's clearly upwards.
