hwo to change my computer's shell.dll

uhhh...I don't know if this in the right spot...but when I change my shell32.dll and resart my comp nothing changes...I have the Windows XP SP1 and wanted to have the gant shell32.dll. So i downloaded it and followed the directions in the read-me but it isn't working. Any tips or advice?

if you have changed it right you need to rebuild your icons. this app will to the trick. http://news.webattack.com/get/iconcache.shtml if that dosent work you need to try replacing your shell32.dll again.

the easiest way to replace is to use replacer: http://www3.telus.net/_/replacer/

and don't forget to rebuild the icon cache using tweakui.

Well the way I did it with the chaninja's stuff was to take my existing shell32 and replace it with the ones provided in the chaninja's one. Useing reshacker I "saved as" onto the desktop and rebooted to safe mode. Since I set myself up as admin once in safe mode I just took the original shell32 and put it in a folder on the desktop and put the modified one in the system32 folder and rebooted to normal state. After that everything showed up as it should and I just renamed my original with the .bak on the end just incase I ever needed to revert back. You can try that or someone else may tell you how to do it a little easier.

thank you so much...I'm working on it right now ^_^ i get an error with "replacer" so I'm trying the first one..

run tweakui.

go to repair > rebuild icons.

thanks...hrm I did that...it still doesn't work :-\ maybe I don't have the right .dll file...can anyone post a link to the SP1 .dll gant file?
