  1. 1. Would you vote for an atheist president?

    • Yes , if I have the same policy views
    • Yes, just because he is an atheist
    • No, just because she is an antheist

Just curious about this subject in the neowin forum.

whats this obsession with "atheist" as 'other'. Don't understand. Being atheist doesn't mean somehow you don't have morals, or beliefs or character or belonging..

Sure, why not, we voted a Muslim into office and didn't elect a Mormon, can't worse than being a Mormon, right?

Well we seem to have drawn the line a Mormons as not good to be President, anything more exotic than that will have a real hard time gaining any traction

For the love of... can you get over the 'Obama is a socialist Muslim born in Kenya!' conspiracies already?

On what grounds as its still a religion or is it still a one religion club?

B: what is with all the Atheist attack posts lately.

Not really attacks. Odd questions, perhaps.

Maybe the OP should go into the official religion topic and just put a whole bunch of questions about atheism/atheists there.

"Would you ever go into business with an atheist?"

"Would you ever allow an atheist to babysit your children?"

"Would you be comfortable with an atheist teacher teaching your children?"

"How would you feel about an atheist marrying into your family?"

"Would you let an atheist prepare your food?"

"Would you listen to or watch an atheist celebrity?"

"How would you feel if atheists moved in next door to you?"

"Would you let an atheist paint your house?"

Or just one basic question: "Describe the level of mistrust, hostility, and hatred do you have towards atheists"

I would happily vote for a president regardless of religion, etc, as long as I trusted that they would not let their beliefs lead them to try and use the government to force that belief or attack those that don't share that belief. The government has no place in such matters.

I'm not saying they can't be influenced by their beliefs, because they will be, just that they remember that they represent more than just people that agree with them on various issues and government is not the way to project your own beliefs.

Should atheists take religious people seriously?

Only when they have a bible pointed at your head!  Have you ever been hit with one? Hurts like hell, especially those thick, leather bound ones.   ;)

    • I did that to a work colleague many years ago when he left it logged in. Unfortunately I was out of the office the next day, and even the IT department was stumped lol. Got a bit of a bollocking when I got back into the office, but, by god, it was worth it.
