Games we are looking forward to in 2014

Recommended Posts

Already bought, salivating in anticipation:

Pillars of Eternity, by far the game I'm most excited for since Starcraft 2.

Probably going to buy:

Thief. I just love that series, been waiting for a new installement since Deadly Shadows. Definitely buying and playing it unless it gets destroyed in reviews.

Dark Souls 2 - loved the art style of the first, but haven't actually played it that much. I'll probably give this one a try.

Finally, not planning to buy but still mildly curious about:

The Witcher 3 - tried both 1 and 2, never really got into them; I found the story confusing in the first, and too political in the second. Still, it's hard not to be impressed by the scope the 3rd game seems to be aiming for.

Dragon Age: Inquisition: not expecting much from it really, but I'm curious to see how it turns out.

All on PC of course.

PC:

Witcher 3

Warmachine Tactics

Divinity: Original Sin

Predestination

Limit Theory

Sui Generis

Pillars of Eternity

Wasteland 2

PS4:

Infamous: Second Son

Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition (chose over PC for in-room co-op and no always on internet requirement)

NHL 15

Rock Band 4

Witcher 3

Final Fantasy Lightning Returns

Atelier Escha & Logy

Watch Dogs

The next Ar Tonelico Game

Kingdom Hearts 3

Not sure if it will come out this year

Wii U's Monolith "X" game

*Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six. Wow can't believe they are actually doing a remake of this classic FPS. I loved this game and hope they don't mess it up.

Woah woah weres the source for this?!!  Which RS?  My boy Ding lives to fight again!  Oh god they'll make it for console I bet. :(

As for me:

> Routine (http://www.routinegame.com/)  Sadly their developers aren't talking so not looking good atm

> GTAV PC

> Half-Life 3 :P

> South Park Stick of Truth

> Trespassing (http://trespassingpetrolia.com/)

There isn't a remake AFAIK. The only RS announced is Patriots and it has been delayed and rebooted at least once during the course of development.

Diablo 3 Expansion. I think that the removal of the AH, rebalancing of item drops, new class, new act, and skill points at the top level should make the game quite a bit better.  Blizzard seems to be at least trying to address what players concerns are.

I was looking forward to Elder Scrolls Online, but I'm less confident about that one being a hit now.

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

    • If you don’t get lucky with Valve’s Steam Machine reservation system, you can make your own Steam Machine instead. Valve says that “starting with the SteamOS 3.8 release, you can put together your own Steam Machine using whatever PC parts you want.” SteamOS 3.8.10 launched last week with a slew of updates, including “improved compatibility with recent Intel and AMD platforms.” Alongside that improved compatibility, Valve is giving gamers the green light to install SteamOS on their own desktops. In an interview with The Verge, Valve’s Pierre-Loup Griffais said Valve has been “rolling out improvements to [SteamOS] so it’s more compatible with desktop hardware,” including eventual support for Nvidia graphics. Griffais says Valve has “a growing team” working on Nvidia driver support for SteamOS, adding, “We’re collaborating with Nvidia very closely.” While he mentioned that Nvidia support might not come this year, Griffais emphasized that “it’s certainly something that we’re working on in the background.”     Subscription not needed: https://archive.fo/Tssfc Subscription needed: https://www.theverge.com/games/953411/valve-steamos-desktop-nvidia
    • I thought they were supposed to reduce the amount of restarts needed to install these updates? It took 3 restarts to install this update...
    • I know an idiot at work who is "Director for innovation projects" and inevitably has been tasked with following up on this whole trend of "AI and its work applicability". He recently sent out a survey on the topic, for the workforce to disclose their usage and attitudes towards AI. The survey was badly, sloppily typed out, the questions and answers (when multiple choices) were loosely correlated and, all and all, it would already be miserable in the times of MS Office Autocorrect alone. Then, I had AI responding to it all (on the open-ended questions) with beautiful, to-the-point prose after I provided it with minor but proper guidance, taking me under 10 minutes. All this to say that I am sure that if AI comes to replace someone, it will still be me, and the other idiot will still stay.
    • Man, the memories.
    • Call me when you can say, "Find all duplicate rows with duplicate email addresses and move the duplicate rows to a new sheet", and Copilot can execute that and not give you VBScript to write to do it. If anyone thinks AI isn't in its infancy and the bubble is about to burst, try to do anything meaningful in Excel with Copilot and you will realize AI hasn't even made it to kindergarten in most use cases yet.
