A shallow milestone. But a milestone none the less.

Most of my life I fought with severe overweight. This wasnt only a danger to my health but also hurt my self esteem a lot.

This is me six years ago (302 lbs)

After months of working out, better food habits and replacing some things in my life, this is me now: Pics taken by me and friends at work, with the girl and other places. Actual weight, 188 lbs. Could not be happier.

btw, I should admit. Warwagon was my inspiration for the loss of weight.

Is there anyway to tag members?

Congrats mate, looking sharp...almost gansta...don't rob me :p

According to my girl... and friends... and my sister... and my mother (O _o) I'm an odd but somewhat coherent mix between hipster-goth-cholo-rapper.

Awesome job!

... and I love the picture of your reflection. Now that's how you take a photo of yourself.

Thanks! I actually hate mirror shots, but the window had this amazing silver finish that looked really good with the magic hour. Could not resist.

Not necessarily a shallow milestone. You admit it was a health concern to you as well as an esteem issue.

And you did it the sensible only way: eating right and exercise. You didn't get suckered into buying ###### diet scams and idiotic exercise machines.

Good for you. :)

It's curious, you know? One starts with 'hate': "I hate this dude because he is doing what I want" "He makes it seem so effortless" etc.

Then the 'hate' (Envy, really) detonates something in you. I remember seeing your threads three or four times on this process and saying "That's my goal".

It was never hate, that detonation was something else. inspiration. A true inspiration.

Thanks, from all my heart.

Looking fly, lad. Good job. :)

Can you explain your tattoos to us? At least the visible ones? Just curious. If not, that is okay.

The stellated hexagon is my mother, born in the sixth month, the star of my life. The truncated dodecahedron is my grandfather, born in the 12th month, the most complex person I've ever know. Both of them are the most important people for me (I have several tats about them).

In my knuckles it reads "bluebird", Bukowski's last poem (My favorite poet and contemporary figure). In my right hand it reads "mother, Im trying" a promise to my mother. In the other it reads "to be harder, to not care, to be cool" a promise to myself. In the chest it reads CONTROL, the thing I always strive for.

There are several others. Thanks for asking :)

Here at the fat club, let me be the first to mourn the loss of a fellow brother in arms

You will be missed

Better yet, join us. Or join warwagon, I mean. I still would like to lose a little more.

Looking good dood. (Y) I applaud you in your achievement. Perhaps your story, or the combination of yours and Warwagon's will inspire someone else to change for the better.

Cheers!

His story alone did it for me. He's a great guy.

I would, but the thing is I'm dead sexeh, once you've had the fat, you can't go back

Another pic that a friend uploaded to facebook. This specially shows how much weight has been lost since lower angles always make us look fatter.

See, now those are tattoos I can appreciate. Well thought out and with a purpose. Cool. :)

I've never understood tats that has no significative and everlasting meaning. I love tats, but I find those that are merely aesthetic quite tacky.

On one hand you make me jealous - you've achieved what I've been trying to achieve for the past four years.

On the other hand you're an inspiration for me to try harder. Here's hoping I'll be able to post a similar milestone thread within a year from now.

Congratulations!

If I could, anyone can. I'm the laziest person here. Hope to be reading about your milestone soon (y)

    • What I like about Paint is using it almost exclusively for cropping and resizing images I get elsewhere--it's quick, easy and cheap... I keep it glued to my taskbar, in fact. Also, the clipping tool comes in handy, as well (hit print scrn on the keyboard and it activates immediately.)
    • I still remember it fondly today. It was so cool to work in 64-color Half Bright mode and 4.096-color HAM mode (interlaced) when x86 was still in 4-color CGA or 16-color EGA low res. C= never realized what it had until it was far too late--the failure of C= was the failure of its top management. The C= Amiga was 20 years ahead of its time, I always thought. It didn't hurt that in only 512k of chip memory, the Amiga could preemptively multitask when Apple was still doing gray scale graphics on tiny screens and along with everyone else was doing cooperative multitasking (running more than one app at a time in resident memory, but you could only run one of them at a time--had to manually switch between them.) I had a ball with AREXX scripting running between programs that had AREXX ports so that when you sent other applications data and instructions, those running applications could process the same in real time to output! Memories...
    • I'm not sure about that, but it at least "does" a version of 7.1 that this brand new card doesn't....

    • I can barely recall getting web results from a file search... I must've turned it off long ago. 26H2 is Insider's Preview build 26300.8697, which I am running, atm. It is not available for people running the standard commercial builds of Windows--only for the beta test Insider's group. But anyway, as mentioned in the thread, this feature has been around for a long time...
