Broken MSN Messenger ;/

I was online today and was logged into my wife's MSN Messenger, and this "there is a new version of MSN Messenger.." thingy appeared in the box, well, i clicked on it, updated it, and rebooted, and now my msn messenger has gone whacko.. i get: CCTCClient: msmsgs.exe - Application Error --- The instruction at "0x77f515c0" referenced memory at "0x00370586". The Memory could not be "read". .. but what's worse, it does this 3 more times with different 0x000000 thingys and the last one being "written" instead of "read"... any ideas?

Why not just uninstall and reinstall? sounds like the easiest choice to me...

uhm.. i've tried to install over the old msn messenger with an older version and the latest, but both still the same.. i had the Messenger Plus plugin tooh, but i have uninstalled it, and still same errors...

installing over the top of a bad install never works... you need to uninstall it all, msn im and the plus (which is probably the problem), then reinstall msn im to see if it works.

i tried to uninstall via the edit windowsinfsysoc.inf method, and there's no Messenger in the Add/Remove Components.. is there another method of removing msn messenger?

ok, while i was posting that, i found another way to uninstall msn messenger :) [the RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%INFmsmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove method]

and yes, i'm on xp,

but, when re-installing, still gave me those Application Errors. ;/

After you uninstall it go into the programs directory and rename the messenger folder, then reboot. Then go to messenger.msn.com and download the latest version and try to install that...

do the messages still come up after that?

Ah... after so long.... forgot to mention - this issue was because of overclocking :p add/remove program programs do not work well if you've overclocked and it's not 100% stable. :)

hey guys.

when u tried to sign into my msn. theres a prompt asking me to update my software. when i click on no and tried to sign in again e prompt appeared again. i got no choice but to install. when installing, it stops at "downloading installer". my my com hangs..i tried over and over again but still the same results.. help me out guys
