Da vinci Tower A $350 million tower to be known as the Dynamic Architecture building is to be constructed in Dubai. The 68-story tower will feature floors that can be individually rotated via voice commands.

 

That's crazy... Dubai is the only place in the world where you can find the most technological thing in a city.

From an architectural point of view, yes it is ;-) they may not be the most in technology but if you see all their buildings, they have an unique class in the world.

You see this sort of thing in the places where the rich are insanely rich, and the poor are insanely poor.  Western societies don't typically waste money on stuff like this that doesn't really benefit anybody. Dubai is pretty much the world's showcase of oil riches.  They are doing some very very cool things though.

Dubai has some incredible architecture, but the problem is when you fill your entire city with lots of random buildings with unique aesthetics you don't have one you're really renowned for.

 

The Space Needle

The Opera House

The Empire State Building

St. Basil's Cathedral

Taj Mahal

 

Etc. All stand out and are well known worldwide.

I went to Chicago a long time ago... that the tower had revolving restaurant at the top of the tower.  It had an amazing view..   It's closed.

 

I am sure there are more revolving restaurants in some states.

TBH, Western societies... Are kinda collapsing. We're too busy killing our futures by killing science and technology off in the classroom, and replacing it with religious nonsense.

Actually that couldn't be any further from the truth. Religion has been on a steady decline.  It's been declining faster in Europe, but it's still losing steam in the US too.

The actual problem is that the media dramatizes crap like that to make it look worse than it actually is. I turn on the news every morning and get to hear about all the people that got murdered the previous day, but that sort of thing isn't a massive widespread problem.  Honestly the world would be a better place if the media didn't have a strong voice (aka bias).

You're both right, but in Dubai they can afford to waste on a whole other level. They can build their own islands for pleasure, where an island didn't exist before, lol. Actually, for the pleasure of the Western rich coming to visit.

Disregarding religion, the only people killing science and technology are the lazy students who can get by in our society without it. Why take math and science if you can just take political science or liberal arts and live well and not have to think hard? I'm not exactly sure who "we're" are, but it's personal choice not to take math and science courses and careers.

There's one on top of the Mariott hotel in downtown Ottawa and there is/was one on top of what used to be the Delta Hotel on University street in Montreal. Unfortunately for the Montreal one, the entire hotel is being converted into residences for university students, not sure what's going to happen to the restaurant though, if it's going to stay open or not. I worked next to the one in Ottawa for a few years and now I work pretty much across the street from the Montreal one.
