Hey everyone!

Forgive me if its not the right section to post to.

I just bought Office 2013 and I love it. But I have my macros and styles in my normal.dotm and they can't seem to work in 2013 but they are fine in Office 2010.

Can anybody help me out what to do?

This is very important to me, I have a lot of work to do in Office and want to use 2013.

Thanks!

Cheers!

Okay, just verified with my PC.  Copying the Word 2010 Normal.dotm to the same location in Word 2013 does copy across the macro's and they function without issue.

Do you still have access to the 2010 installation, you could export the macro's to a file and them import them back to 2013?

  1. In Word 2010 enable the developer tab if not already available.  Right click anywhere in the Ribbon Bar and select "customize the ribbon", place tick in Developer on the right hand section and OK the window.
  2. From the Developer tab select Visual Basic and expand Normal in the top left section, then expand Modules.  Under Modules you should see your macro's.
  3. Select a macro and click File>Export and save the file to easy to access location.
  4. Repeat for each macro.

For Word 2013.

  1. Rename the normal.dotm file to normal.dotm.old.  And then open Word 2013 and open Visual Basic from the Developers tab.
  2. Now go File>Import and import the BAS files you exported in the previous steps.  Close Visual Basic and then Word making sure you save as needed.

Hopefully what I've typed makes sense and helps you.

    • Nah. For every indie dev that needs to create code for "stuff" or textures, it's a godsend enabler to possibly tackle a project that you may not otherwise. The end result and testing will tell the truth if everything works or doesn't, or a game is just mediocre slop, but now these tools are now there and it's the developer's duty to judge the outcome, and even more so for pro studios. And you gotta remember that they will be at an early stage.
    • whoosh my comment went over your head. Enjoy your notchless 3:2 OLED device
    • As a game dev, today was really depressing. They announced that Blueprints will be deprecated in UE6 to be fully replaced by their sh**ty Python-like Verse language... They also announced that 5.8 will be the last version of UE5 until UE6 comes out in MID 2029!!!! They have completely lost the plot.
