Phone with best Onenote Experience

Hello

 

I have been using OneNote on my pc for a while now, and I would love to try it on phone.

my current phone doesn?t supports OneNote so I would like to know which platform (Android,iOS,WP ) has the best onenote app with all features.

I haven't tested or used onenote on any mobile devices yet so please tell me drawbacks as well

Well, as it's from Microsoft, that's going to be a Windows Phone devices from Nokia, Samsung, Huawei or HTC. Nokia is probably the best choise right now. And then comes the question: what do you expect from your smartphone except for OneNote?

 

- Cheap but functional? -> Lumia 52x/62x/72x and best choise 63x (to be released)

- Big screen? -> Lumia 1320 (cheap) or Lumia 1520

- High-end without big screen? -> Lumia 82x/92x and best choise 93x (to be released)

- Extremely very good awesome camera? -> Lumia 102x

 

That the Lumia series in big lines, of course, there are an aweful lot of feature differences between all of those devices. The most important things to know is perhaps that all of them are getting the latest software update, to the upcoming Windows Phone 8.1, and you can be sure of it that you'll get Update 1, Update 2 and Update 3 later this year and next year too.

I don't know how the experience is on iOS or Android, but on Windows Phone it is superb. You can create new notes of course, you can share them via email, text message, etc...

 

It is limited in that you can't create new sections from within the app and you can't move your notes from one section to another. Having said that, I've used my Lumia 1520 with OneNote to take notes in the field for my Environmental Science class this semester and it's worked out beautifully. I already have my categories set up for each of my classes and if I forget to start a new note in the correct category I just move it from OneNote Online or on my PC when I get home. I would definitely recommend the Lumia 1520 if you don't mind the big screen. I got used to it quickly and would never go back to a small screen (previously I used only iPhones).

 

Now the game changing device for me with OneNote has been my Surface Pro 2 combined with the WACOM pen. In my College Algebra class I have been using it to take all my notes and it's been wonderful. I can access my notes from anywhere even if I don't have my notebooks with me and I can still get my homework done.

She has examples if you tap on "see more" and "Note":

 

"Take a note"

 

"Note: <your message>"

 

"Take a note: <your message>"

 

She will write the note for you and also attach a copy of your recorded voice.

Thanks for the reply guys, But some told me that onenote works much better on iOS & android while the WP version has some features missing is this ture ?

I don't want large size phone. 4.7inches is the max i prefer.

also there are many rumours that nokia name is about to go, So should i just wait for new named lumia ? ( Not a big issue but it feels dated when using a dead brand phone :/ )

Nokia just got acquired by MS, but all the Nokias running WP8 will continue to get support (same as non Nokia WP8 phones too). I don't think OneNote on WP is missing any features, but maybe someone else can answer that better.

 

Me personally, I am waiting for the next lineup of WP devices to become available with 8.1. But if you need something today, there are still lots of options for a phone in the size you are looking for. iPhones and Androids are fine too, and MS supports them pretty well with OneNote. But if you really like OneNote and Office, you'll find most of these features and apps first on WP. Office Lens is an example. It can scan things directly into OneNote using your WP.

The new iOS app provides a great one note experience.  In fact I would say the new iOS app is better than the WP one, but I have not used WP in almost a year so I don't know if they've updated the built in one to match now.
