I am not sure how many people saw this but it looks like the Dev Preview is getting an update today.

http://blogs.windows.com/windows_phone/b/windowsphone/archive/2014/05/14/update-to-windows-phone-8-1-preview-for-developers.aspx

We?ve had an amazing response to the Windows Phone 8.1 Preview for Developers we began delivering one month ago today. Developers (and enthusiasts) have been putting the software through its paces and giving us great feedback. People are loving the new features like Cortana, Action Center, and the Word Flow keyboard with shape writing. We?ve managed to make the world?s most personal smartphone even better, and folks are pretty stoked. Thanks to all of you who have been participating in the preview and telling us about your experience.

One of the cool things about the Preview for Developers is the direct feedback loop it creates among the savviest of user communities. We?ve received a ton of great feedback so far on what people like about Windows Phone 8.1, and some things we can improve. To that end, we?re happy to announce that starting today we?re delivering an update to the Windows Phone 8.1 Preview for Developers (build number 8.10.12382.878). This update includes several improvements based on the feedback we?ve received, and we?re happy to be rolling it out after just one month.

If you are on the Windows Phone 8.1 Preview for Developers and want to get the update, go to Settings then Phone Update and click ?check for updates?.

Thanks again for your interest in Windows Phone, and as always ? let us know what you think!

I am downloading and installing it right now.

Microsoft encouraging everyone to post changelogs while they forget to post their own. ########.

they do that with most of their updates not just with this one. It is rather sad that they wouldn't let us know what changed though. I have been looking around and have not seen a single difference so far.

Bug fixes and code optimization. Joe B. also mentioned battery life improvements. Don't need much of a changelog for these.

Probably under the hood optimizations, nothing more. I wish the heck they would disable the double tap spacebar = "." I get tired of that one.

This needs to have an option. There are three punctuation marks that you really need: . , ?

. is there by default.

you can put , in there from options.

but ? is a pain to use.

Since first two are available in the keyboard directly, I wish I could configure double tab space to ?

Its less of an issue for me since I started using Wordflow, but I accidentally put periods in sentences constantly before.  I agree though, more options for this function are needed.

Wordflow has another major issue: you cant write a sentence in a go. I don't see why you cant swipe to space between words and write full sentence in one go...

Really? They already broke the world record. Don't you think they did usability testing? I can't imagine swiping constantly without lifting my finger. Even on glass my fingertip would start to get warm and sore.

How fast do you shape-write anyway?

Hard to say with only a day later but I think my 8X is back to the battery levels it was with 8.0 after this update.  I'll have to keep track though.  I also wouldn't be surprised if we see one more update right before or once they finally sign off on it and it starts going out to everyone, I don't think this will be the final build everyone sees rolling out in June.

It is not about speed. it is about convenience.

So don't post senseless comments.

no reason to get snippy, please keep the conversation cival.

With quad-cores, 226% higher clock speed, and 400% more RAM... for a 1.3% speed improvement.

What do you mean by this?

SSTP primarily or DirectAccess. Vendors are allready deploying applications to support their remote access but Microsoft seems to be desperate to drive customers away from Windows Server 2012 remote access by refusing to support SSTP or DirectAccess (Who else is meant to) on WP.

    • What they really need to do is automatically spell "loses" and "lose" correctly since nobody seems to know how to anymore. Then they blame spellcheck/autocomplete and don't realize autocomplete is just filling in the word for them automatically so it was misspelled in the first place.
    • If someone chooses to continue using SB and therefore goes through the manual intervention in the thread, afterwards the BSOD problem is gone. Whether they then re-enable the task doesn't matter, they're done, though on such machines it might pay to keep it disabled in case the next update (if there is a next) causes the same problem. OTOH, if someone disables SB in the BIOS, the problem is also gone. Incidentally, I noticed that this task exists even on machines that don't support SB. It's just installed across the board...and runs. Doing what on such machines is a little hazy.
