IE & Tabbed Browsing

Wow thanks for all that input. Those links were oustanding :p

Maybe I should give this a try --> IE Tabbed Browing Mod

Seriously though, I've tried MyIE2 and found it to bloated. All that extra crap just confused me  Opera was cool but I felt the same way about it.

All I really want is IE with the google toolbar & tabbed browsing. I was hoping there was a mod that would just add tabs into IE.

I think he meant this instead ;)

If you really need to use IE, use myie2 or some other ie-based browser. Give firebird a try though :D

No, Mozilla also has tabbed browsing though Firebird's is better. He should be able to choose.

I don't why you guys are even bringing up Mozilla or Firebird here. My link was for a plug-in for tabbed IE browser. ;)

lol never heard anyone say MyIE2 was bloated before, but there is actually a way to add tabs to IE itself...

http://www.microgarden.com/webtools/

It's not exactly good by any means but it does the job.

you have to pay for that.. its not free

Try http://www.avantbrowser.com - it's all free and as for tabbed browsing it has been my choice.

Tried Mozilla Firebird and Opera as well. Those both fail on some pages, just because they have different engine - not to say they are useless - and that's enough for me to scrap them for everyday use.

(I do agree w/bangbang023 - what kind of thinking is that when you are asked about tabbed IE extension and given "firebird" answer?)

But I wanted a tabbed browser based on IE. So AvantBrowser then.

Personally I use firebird because it has pop up blocking, built in google, tabbed browsing, theming and icons and so forth. IT also has fun games like hexagonal Minesweeper and Tetris.

My Firebird loads up in about the same time as IE, maybe half a second longer.

Anyways, I have heard good things about MyIE2, might wanna give that a shot if Firebird isn't your thing.

As for tabbed browsing witht he original IE, I do not know of a solution to that.

Stop recommended Firebird, its a terrible browser, it screws up 50% of webpages. Mostly neowin. I used it, loved it, until one of the builds started screwing up Invision based sites. Until they fix firebird, its garbage.

myie2 is good

Fixed last month, from a table bug introduced over the summer.

Dude...terrible browser but you say you used it and loved it before? Ok...

Anyway, that Invision bug was fixed a while ago. A bug in the Invision software, dude. You think that the Mozilla devs would let such a huge bug in rendering such a widely used forum software just stay like that without it being fixed? No. Invision boards have been working fine with me ever since Invision 1.3 final. No having to reload, nothing. Works like a charm I tell ya.

Anyway, just came out of the Firebird forums and MAN that new build is working extremely well for me. I usually get a new build every week to see how progress is coming along and A TON of bugs have been stomped out and the new download manager they added is a slick lil thing. As of 10/07/03, all major regressions of major bugs have been stopped and the build is working better than any version of Firebird I have ever seen thus far. From what I'm seeing, Firebird 0.8 is due in 2 weeks at the most, and this build is looking pretty strong. Check it out.

(Download links are included in this posting, read the report and comments and you WILL be interested in testing this out. Some builds are compressed with 7zip to make them a nice 4.58MB)
