Dick Montage
This is going to be one of my requests that is a bit tricky to explain... I have a folder structure: N: ...Movies ......Movie 1 .........Movie 1.avi .........Movie 1-fanart.jpg ......Movie 2 .........Movie 2.avi .........Movie 2-fanart.jpg ......Movie 3 .........Movie 3.avi .........Movie 3-fanart.jpg ......Movie 4 .........Movie 4.avi .........Movie 4-fanart.jpg If I am in N:\Movies and search for files ending in "-fanart.jpg", that would return me all the fanart for all my movies. With me so far? Great. Is there a way of taking these search results and mapping it to a folder or such? Why? Because I would like to then specify that folder as a location for a slideshow to run from, thus creating a slideshow of all my fanart, but just within the N:\Movies folder. Suggestions? Thank you :)
Grunt
I don't think there's anything in Windows that will help. I don't believe symlinks or hardlinks are capable of filtering file types. what about using FreeFileSync/SyncToy to copy those files to the other dir and run on a schedule? Aasum
Using DupeMerge you can run a cmd/bat file at login using wildcards and since it has the ability to create hard links it doesn't take up any more diskspace than one copy of the file.
Dick Montage
Creating duplicates is a no-no for me. Someone who normalises databases fanatically, you just made me shake with geek rage ;) I will look at that dupemerge thing. Thanks
mykola
in the window with the search results right click then click save search, it pops up under your favourites as a link ? don't know if that's any use ?

Max Norris
in the window with the search results right click then click save search, it pops up under your favourites as a link ? don't know if that's any use ? Saved searches (with the extension of .search-ms) are just XML files that Explorer will parse on demand, doesn't actually save any results, not something you can actually mount. You could do some automation with AutoHotKey and the like but it wouldn't be the most elegant solution by any stretch. You could create your own thing in whatever language you prefer though, do the search and have it symlink the results, share that directory. Rinse and repeat and needed. Dick Montage
Symbolic links is the best option by far I might accomplish this with powershell
FiB3R
Another option could be to use Picasa as your slideshow viewer. You can disable the display of any video files from within the options. I suppose other image viewers could have that option too.
Dick Montage
Another option could be to use Picasa as your slideshow viewer. The slideshow is not an image viewer as such, it's the background multiple image viewer in XBMC. I have fixed it now - using a quick VBS to enumerate folders, check for file, create symbolic links. Thanks though :) FiB3R 1 Share
