If the list of Warner Bros. movie announcements planned for Comic-Con International is even half as long as Nikki Finke's sources indicate, DC Comics fans will likely leave Hall H next month very happy.

The Deadline founder launched her eponymous website today with a purported development slate that, while characterized as "in flux," certainly qualifies as ambitious:

  • May 2016 ? Batman v Superman
  • July 2016 ? Shazam
  • Xmas 2016 ? Sandman
  • May 2017 ? Justice League
  • July 2017 ? Wonder Woman
  • Xmas 2017 ? Flash and Green Lantern team-up
  • May 2018 ? Man Of Steel 2
The date for "Batman v Superman" was, of course, already known, but Finke contends its move from July 2015 to May 2016 wasn't due to the script or the availability of Ben Affleck or Jesse Eisenberg, but rather because Warner Bros. needed to negotiate multi-picture deals with the actors who will make cameos as heroes like Cyborg, Aquaman, Green Lantern and The Flash before going on to appear in "Justice League" and, in some cases, their own movies.

Aside from the number and frequency of superhero films -- three each in 2016 and 2017 -- the rumored lineup contains several surprises, not the least of which is the timing of "Justice League," which initial reports indicated was unlikely to arrive before 2018.

I wonder who they want for Shazam!

Same here! And pretty much all the other un-casted heroes. Definitely looking forward to that Green Lantern/Flash team-up as well. Always loved the dynamic/chemistry between the two.

Yeah I was surprised to not see Batman there, maybe Affleck will just appear in cameos

Hopefully not! I think they're still planning and that the Batman films will be a bit after the JL film, much like Man of Steel 2.

The others will have to come first, Batman is a sure thing, no need to rush it out compared to a WW and Flash/GL movie etc.  Also doing a new Batman after MoS2 sounds like a good plan because then you can lead that into a second JL movie.

That's for sure. And a Batman film might be too soon after The Dark Knight Rises.

Yup, look at Spideman, at least in the US each new film is doing less and less, they rebooted it way too soon IMO.

Yeah, that reboot was so soon and unexpected :/ Though I must admit that it kinda feels different for Batman to me.

I wonder who they want for Shazam!

Dwayne Johnson was mentioned for Shazam in April, and he wants a DC part. Black Adam and John Stewart were his first choices, but...

They have to turn a movie out otherwise rights revert

That's true and the reboots are a lot better than the previous 3. But I believe they did set a record for how long it took to start a reboot :p

    • Linux 7.2's first release candidate gets off to a good start by Paul Hill Credit: Larry Ewing It has been a few weeks since the release of Linux 7.1, and in that time, the Linux 7.2 merge window has been open, where developers can submit their features and patches ready for the upcoming release. That window is now shut, and the release candidate phase has begun so that new features can be tested and further fixes applied. According to the founder of Linux, Linus Torvalds, this week’s release candidate looks “reasonably normal”. Although we are super early in the release candidates, this is a good sign as it makes it more likely that an eighth release candidate will not be needed. Torvalds even mentioned that the update’s stats are only larger than they really are because there was another AMD header drop with a third of the patch just being AMD GPU register definitions, which aren’t big changes but make the code contributed look larger overall. In addition to this, he noted that just over half the patch is drivers, even when excluding the AMD register dump. The rest of the changes are spread out over architecture updates, tooling, documentation, and core kernel updates. In the next week, Torvalds says that he will be chilling out, taking the week “mostly off”. Despite this, he will be reading emails and keeping up with things, so if he is slow responding, now you know why. He said he is hoping for a calm week, but we will just have to see if the second release candidate is actually like that. We should expect seven or eight release candidates before Linux 7.2 is released, so expect it around the end of August. If you missed it a few weeks ago, be sure to check out our coverage of Linux 7.1's release.
