UEFI: Stuck in legacy mode

Are you sure the machine actually supports UEFI?

 

If you go to the Dell support page, type in your Service tag and check to make sure you have the latest BIOS version.

 

Dell may not have shipped the machine with a UEFI BIOS but it is worth having a look :)

I also personally believe that it would have been shipped with BIOS, the software you might be trying is showing disable option because its not supported. Although me and KibosJ can be totally wrong as well.

Well, it likely has a UEFI BIOS.  After all, this BIOS has a graphic user interface (GUI) and mouse support.

If you can get into Windows, or a linux distribution it may be worth giving the Dell Client Configuration Toolkit a go.

 

You may need to read through some of the Documentation, but it may do what you need :)

Try starting by going to the top level item in the tree, and then selecting the "Load All Defaults" option to set the firmware back to manufacturer settings.

Then, go ahead and start changing the settings, including the one to enable UEFI.  if it is still unavailable, you may have to first enable some other option in order for it to become available.

I think you have to press the UEFI option first, save and reboot, go back into BIOS again and then you should be able to set the boot order.

We've got that exactly as shown on our computers at work so I can have a closer look if you have no luck.
