I don't understand how those things work. It seems to me like you place the fans under the laptop, but there's no where to draw air from unless your laptop was floating.

It draws air from out the sides of your machine. I just bought the coolermaster Cool Pad and I find that it works great. I can't provide you with any numbers but after using it for the past few hours I can say that the laptop is noticeably cooler.

I have the exact same laptop as Dave so I understand when he says the left side heats up. Now, however, it is only luke warm to the touch.

Not only does it perform well at cooling, but it also gives the laptop a much needed "lift" off the desk so that cables and optical drives are no longer in the way of your work space.

It is made of solid, brushed aluminum and is attractively styled. It even says "CoolPad" on its front so you know for sure!

A nice, added bonus is that the Coolermaster Cool Pad arrives in its own, nifty transparent carry case.

(Y) to Coolermaster.

I have Bytecc Aluminum Notebook Cooler. I bought it for only $16. It works wonder with my monster Sager 4780.

Here is some review :

BitBenderTech.net

Where does that thing draw power from? All I see is an old AT keyboard socket which I know my laptop sure doesn't have.

By the way, in case anyone cares, before I got a cooling pad I tried water cooling my laptop (admittedly only the space underneath it, not the inside).

The box with the kitchen foil contains iced water and the tube loops it under the laptop, before it drips into the bottle on the floor. Didn't cool the laptop but did stop the desk from feeling like it was about to burst into flames.

    • My son is in Monaco right now, and I was checking his location in Apple's Find My app. I noticed that Prince Albert's Palace was blurred out on the satellite imagery in both Find My and Apple Maps. I checked Google Maps, and the palace wasn't blurred there. Does Apple have some kind of process where property owners can request that their homes be blurred on Apple Maps?
    • No, it was THAT ugly and I’d rather forget it completely existed.
    • There is a lot of reasons not to use Edge but faster fixes and security updates is not one of them.
    • Can't reproduce. I installed Edge, went to neowin.net > accepted the cookie consent > used menu to go to forums, everything loads and I can browse around the forums. If you can't interact with the dialog on the forums for some reason, go to the main site and accept the cookie consent there? It is true that the site will not function properly until the cookie consent is accepted or rejected,. it's a legal requirement and I also know that certain VPN/ad blockers block it, which is a user related issue and not a neowin.net problem.   This is not our cookie consent dialog. Gotta love browser hijacking... /s Edit: this may be what Californians see, I will confirm with our consent provider.
