Google services on windows phone

Hi all. I'm looking to move to windows phone as I may be also getting a surface 3 also. I'm looking at the lumia 930. I can find most of what I need to use in terms of apps. The only issue I'm having a hard time sussing out is the use of google services.

 

I use gmail for my email and contacts and google calender for my diary. I see there is no gmail app but as far as I can see you can use the mail app to use a gmail account. Will this also sync the contacts and use push notifications or will I need to manually check for mail??

 

With regards to the calender I found contradictory information. Can anyone confirm if I can subscribe to my google calender and that the phone will update automatically?

YES. Windows Phone 8.1 can sync with Gmail, contact, and Google calendar.
