swap memory, copying files to thunderbolt drives, when copying across 10Gb Ethernet.... I think that's completely valid enough.

Yes, yes you are.

You do realise that video editors need as much speed as possible, right? Just because this isn't you doesn't mean it's not true.

Ok friend.  Whatever you say.

I guess I could mention that copying to thunderbolt drives will be bottlenecked by that drive well before you are able to tap the speed of the SSD.  And of course, there are no 10GB ethernet cards in MBPs...nor is swapping memory going to tap the speed of  a sata 3 SSD vs PCIe.  If you were swapping that much for that long, I'd argue you either have some serious ram issues or are trying to use a laptop for something suited for a professional machine with 32GB or more of ram.

Can I just say how amazing track pads are on mac laptops?  PC manufacturers need to figure out where Apple is getting it's track pads from.

Agreed, this is one of the main reasons I got a macbook. I can't stand using trackpads in windows. There are windows laptops that have good trackpad hardware but the drivers/windows trackpad support always falls way short of OSX. This is one of those areas where apple controlling both the OS and the hardware gives a big advantage. The system wide smooth/responsive scrolling is implemented so well on osx.

Unfortunately windows laptops seem more focused on shoving touchscreens everywhere rather than making the trackpad experience better.

Which is a shame because there are touch mice that work almost (or as) as well as a touchpad in OS X.  There is no excuse for it.

So wait you can't get RAID that can churn out speeds of 768MB/s?

You can't get 10GB ethernet cards for MBP?

Interesting..... Isn't it....

And about swap, yes it will count, certain applications need swap even if there is enough RAM available. Also it will definitely 'tap' the speed of any drive if there isn't enough RAM, you're talking about a 50% increase of speed here.

Show me some benchmarks tapping out that PCIe SSD.

'To try and remove the spinning-hard-drive bottleneck, we ran the same tests, but with an OWC Mercury Extreme Pro 6G SSD as the external drive.'

I'm talking about RAID here..... Did you even look at the links, it says it complete 'taps' out thunderbolt 1 which is 10Gb/s

'Our initial performance tests show that a single Pegasus2 R6 with 6 standard rotational hard drives can hit speeds higher than Thunderbolt can support, but does not fully saturate the 20 Gbps bandwidth of Thunderbolt 2.'

You can agree with T3X4S all you want but in the end I'm showing you facts and you're calling it fanboyism.

    • Did Labour lose big? They had losses there is no doubt. However let's look at the reality. The conservatives have 168 councils I believe. Labour have 113 and Reform...38. That's a lot of growth for Reform granted. But that is not a wipeout, Reform don't have the majoring in fact at 76 I believe the Liberal Democrats have nearly twice the councils Reform do. So I am thinking there is a lot more noise than signal going on here. Now then let's talk about the law. It's an age restriction. We do it for cigarettes, **** and alcohol. This idea that some kids will find there way around it so it's not worth even trying is really really sad. Hell we can't stop every murder. Should we stop trying there too? That is the logical conclusion.
