So apparently it takes time to unregister so now I'm pending.  If I would've known I would probably have just waited for 1409.  So now I'm stuck with the problem until it finishes unregistering me.  Does anyone know if once that happens the console will downgrade to the latest official build?

A hard reset would still leave you on 1408, right?

Youtube was still installed, but the older version? That is strange!

Turns out not everybody is gonna get 1409

Why did you unregester, rather than waiting for 1410 or whatever?

Because TV and Netflix are the things my family uses the most and the static was (is) unbearable. I thought it'd be a quick fix, not have to wait for the upgrade.

Strange... I don't have the static problem like you had..

I have Netflix and TV on mine and all apps work fine.

I just unregistered from the preview program.  The console is fine until I start watching TV or Netflix.  Then I get a static flash about every second even after I exit those apps.

in the update preview app, in the "known issues" section, this is what it says

Some users will encounter audio static when using LiveTV

The dev team has a fix in testing and is slated for future release

I wouldn't unregister from the preview program, because when the fix is released, you'll get it earlier while in the preview. I also recommend you complete all the surveys in the preview and surveys app, as you're in the preview program for the reason to give them feedback on the update,so in my opinion, if you're giving them feedback, you're most likely to get the updates first.

You're right, I'm regretting the decision.  It was a knee jerk reaction due to the annoying factor of the static plus an hour and a half chatting with Microsoft that consisted of "try a different cable; turn it off and on; change a setting; turn it off and on; change another setting; turn it off and on; try it with another TV..."

Nope. reads exFat at least, so I'm fairly sure it does fat32 as well.

That doesnt make any sense then. I just pulled the flash drive out and it was formatted as fat 32 and I didnt get a notification nor did it showed up in storage. When I formatted it in ntfs it worked.

did you try plugging t in a couple of times ? for me it either took some time to react or it didn't react untill I pulled it out and back in.

1409 Announcement - Limited Audience (for now)

We've worked hard this year to make Xbox One a console you can be proud of, and we've done it largely with your feedback. The Preview Program has been integral in helping shape the future of Xbox One, and will continue to do so. As we enter the seventh wave of Previews, we continue to be blown away by your dedication to making Xbox great by letting us know what works for you, and what needs a bit more love before it's ready. We all take this feedback to heart, and value it as an important part of our decision making process here at Xbox.

From your feedback, we've learned that the August update is close, but not quite there yet. We still have to make sure 1408 is ready for it's release to the general public soon.

At the same time, we also have new features in the September update that we can't wait to get feedback on as well. With that in mind, we've decided to release the 1409 update preview to a portion of our Preview audience, while keeping others on 1408 to help us make sure it's ready for prime time.

We know those of you with 1408 still on your consoles will continue to provide that great feedback to help us make a great update, and those of you with 1409 will provide excellent feedback as well. After we release 1408, we'll get everyone over to 1409 so you all will get a chance to see what's coming first, like always.

Thanks for your participation in the Preview Program! Your feedback is what helps us keep working on these updates day after day, and what helps us make them great.

They're screwing with this stuff too much now. The dash and preview has become a frankenstein of features and styles. The friend tab looks completely out of place at top level

You can now be on one of 3 different dashes apparently, 1407 without friends tab, 1408 with friends tab, 1409 without friends tab but the new boot to tv option etc.

Yeah tried like 3 different flash drives. I even tried the back port still nothing lol Its weird

Its the preview program, of course they are going to throw things like this at you. This is how they are going to test all of these options and get feedback. They are going to try and avoid doing anything without pushing it to you guys first.

The final release should reflect the feedback you guys give them, so I hope your sharing your issues with them. That will result in a better final version for me

As far as the friend tab specifically, I'm not sure how its out of place given the screenshots I have seen of it. Pins/Home/Friends/Store seems alright. Did you mean the layout of the friend's section itself? Besides, people wanted a section like that, something that they liked on the 360.

When the Xbox One updates, there really has to be a channel log.

I have gotten 2 different 1409 updates.  In the first 1409 update, I got my boot to tv options, and other small options that are in place.

Today I got another 256MB update, and I have the slightest clue on what it was for.  256MB lets me know that something was either not right about the update from the other day.  Or something of some sort was added.

Anyone else get 2updates to 1409?  By the way I'm 1409 (without friends tab)

Ironman you gonna be ###### for unenrolling. they just released an update to fix the audio popping issue.

bug fixes, wifi issues fixes, headset audio fix and audio static fix. go to announcements in the dash preview app, it tells you what changes.

Heads up, since you guys bring up the multiple build/update thing, starting today 1408 is going out to everyone, there should be no one on 1407 after a few days.  Now if there's a few people in the preview program on different 1409 builds well that's just how these things go, they're not going to push it out to everyone right away, select few, to make sure there's no wide spread issue.  Better to test with a small number to start before you roll it out to, possibly, millions of Xbox One owners in the preview program.

Besides, at the rate they're going everyone will get the final 1409 update by this time next month and we'll be talking about 1410.

I understand why we're part of the program, but the subnetting of testers is unnecessary and creates twice the workload.

As for providing feedback, that is the other thing they've subnetted. We now have 2 different apps, one for registration which has had all the features removed, and a second dashboard app which gives you "quests", change logs and ways to submit feedback straight from the console. Not everyone in the preview has access to the latter. Microsoft have forgotten how to beta :( Just let anyone who wants to take part download it, and put them on the same build. These variables make for a terrible test environment.

I had some problems with my Xbox today before I left, it didn't sign me in, and no apps would start, including the system apps like the sign in app, and I couldn't go to my apps as that also just stood there and dropped back to the dash. netflix just hung forever on the red netflix screen.   restarting had no effect.

on the last time I shut it down before I left it didn't shut down completely but on the on the X logo slowly blinking so I'm hoping it's downloading some update and it'll work when I get back home. otherwise I don't know what to do as I can't get into system settings or anything.

Invited you again.

Usually when you run an experiment you split your test group up to hit different variable combinations. You make progress faster, especially when your pool is massive. Quite frankly it seems more like you don't know how to beta if this is what you're complaining about.

Invited you again.

Thank you very much.  It did say I could rejoin at any time through the dashboard preview app but I appreciate the forethought.  For now I'm still pending leaving.

indeed. especially with Microsofts short monthly updates testing needs to be efficient, this means they need to test multiple builds with different versions and solutions at the same time to see what works what doesn't and what's most efficient and so on.

People who want an always smoothly working xbox one shouldn't sign up for the preview, after all the beta's here are actual betas unlike the 360 previews which was ore preview than beta.

And if you're not interested in having a dash that may be buggy and may be different than other people's. then don't sign up for the beta preview, with these timetables you're at most a month behind anyway.

FTR my Xbox had turned off when I got home(forgot to turn off the projector before I left... oops, there goes ~3 hours of lamp life I'll never get back :p) and when I started t up it signed right in and everything starts right up, so it seems it was in the middle of some kind of update.

But a dashboard beta isn't like your typical software. We're going to be using the same version or else we can't connect to XBL. So finding bugs which would occur between different versions is pointless.

I know perfectly well how to beta though, thanks ;)

Anybody else getting this strange text bug at various points in the OS?

Had it since the last couple of updates.

Yeah, I also have it since last couple of updates

    • There is a default resolution setting in Settings > Display that can be changed with a click. You can also change the settings on a per-game basis. No CLI needed. Also, Steam has countless games that are not "[perpetual] alpha/beta games", so no need for the straw man. Plus you can use other stores as well. And console games (e.g. PS5) cost a fortune, which itself more than negates the price subsidy on the system, unless you plan on exclusively playing 1 or 2 games. It's true that you shouldn't buy a system that doesn't support the game(s) you want to play, but I think that's kinda obvious, and applies to every console as well as PC. I don't game in the living room and have no need of a Steam Machine, but there is a clear market segment that would find it useful.

RSS Guard 5.2.0 changelog: Added: Feed auto-fetch can now also be delayed while Feral GameMode is active on Linux and startup auto-fetch is skipped when GameMode is already active. (#2265) WebEngine builds can now use RSS Guard generated proxy auto-config (PAC) rules so article/web browsing follows per-account and per-feed proxy settings more closely. (#2273) Generated PAC rules now also cover related subdomains and use Public Suffix List data, so feeds such as feeds.bbc.co.uk can also proxy resources from images.bbc.co.uk. (#2273) Standard feeds can now define extra proxy domains, useful when article images, stylesheets or other page resources are loaded from a CDN or another domain that should use the same feed proxy. (#2273) RSS Guard now asks for proxy credentials when a WebEngine page needs proxy authentication and can fill credentials from the current feed proxy when available. (#2273) Network settings again include an option to ignore all cookies, which clears stored cookies and prevents new cookies from being accepted. Standard RSS/ATOM feeds can now individually ignore cookies while downloading feed data. Stored cookies can now be deleted from the Tools menu. Custom skin colors can now override the feed list article count color separately from feed titles, including a separate highlighted color. (#2275) Settings dialog can now search across available settings and highlight matching controls. (#1754) Standard RSS/ATOM feeds can now optionally be reported as broken when they are valid but contain no articles. (#2039) Standard RSS/ATOM feeds can now override the application-wide feed connection timeout per feed. (#1023) Tray icon can now use a custom background color and unread-count text color, with an option to reuse the generated icon as the application icon. (#1973) Support for more benevolent parsing of Gemlog entries (#2295). Article list can now show when an article was received by RSS Guard. (#947) Feed deep discovery now actually scrapes all links found in the website and checks if they are feeds or not. This greatly enhances usability of the deep discovery mode and discovers many more feeds than before. (#2306) Search boxes now show a small dot when the feed or article list is hiding some items because of active filtering. (#873) Articles now have a shortcut-assignable action to open the homepage of the feed they belong to. (#2060) Fixed: Parallel feed updates no longer crash when multiple update results are processed at the same time. (64cf521) Links in WebEngine articles opened from feeds such as Kill the Newsletter now open correctly instead of being swallowed by the embedded page. (#2272) Relative article URLs resolution was kinda broken. (#2282) Clicking article URL did not work when the URL had "fragment" set. (#2293) The default proxy setting now uses Qt/system default proxy behavior instead of forcing no proxy. (e0263ad) WebEngine article loading now keeps the current feed context, so feed-specific proxy credentials remain available while the article page loads.
