I currently own the Razer Mamba Elite 2012 edition. After tons of use and massive over clicking it way more then I should I can tell the buttons aren't as snappy and in the next couple of months I plan on replacing it. I have had nothing but problems since I switched mice though. Had to rma it from newegg after 2 weeks because it had problems. New one started out ok then had problems about 2 months later. I had a razer lachesis and it was awesome, lasted me 5 or 6 years. The Mamba is simply the worst mouse I've ever had the displeasure of owning. Constantly just jumps around randomly and can't control it without unplugging it, locks itself in an X or Y direction and will not budge from that axis until again, I unplug it and replug it in. And good God if I ever try to use it wirelessly, forget it. They actually expect you to send it in for a few weeks without a mouse too is the funny part. So I pay $149.99 for their over priced pos and they expect me to go buy another mouse in the mean time to play games and do my day to day work on while they look into it? No, you advanced rma that and you resell your refurbished one because that's customer service. It'd be different if the mouse was $50. It's $150...for a mouse...

Anyways, to the main point, I love high DPI mice. I want something at least 6400 dpi. The Ouroboros has this and looks nice, but based off the reviews it's even worse then the Mamba and I'm not surprised Razer's hardware/software developers are simply the worst on the planet. So I'd like to move away from Razer entirely. Does anyone have any other alternatives to the Ouroboros?

Mad Catz Rat 9.

- I'm not a big gamer on PC so I just use a Logitech M950, but a friend of mine who games a lot on PC got the Rat 9 awhile back and loves it, he couldn't stop talking about it when he bought it.

(He mostly plays FPS games like COD and BF4, but also a few MMO's.)

Also the G700S is Logitech's high-end wireless gaming mouse, I haven't used it but its got good reviews on YouTube and I typically buy logitech for mice and keyboard and haven't been let down yet.

I've had to replace my Steelseries Sensei mouse twice now, once fore the scroll wheel breaking and the 2nd for the mouse double clicking, I also had a Lachesis which just kept breaking before so it seems to be luck if you get a mouse worth a damn my brother had a Mad Catz RAT mouse which also broke after a month the thumb buttons just snapped off, the entire reason I paid the stupid prices was for the hope that they'd last a while I've now realised they're all just flashy pieces of shite, go for Logitech.

I would advocate against the g700 unless he wants to use it as a wired mouse (which is stupid considering the price).

The g602 is a better option imo.

The g700 is a great mouse but you need to either replace the battery once a day or plug the mouse once a day (and the cable is way too stiff). I owned this mouse for one week and after a week i decided the return it cause the need to plug the mouse once a day was already bothering me a lot. As a wired mouse the cable is stiff. The battery case cap is hard to remove so to replace the battery once a day you almost need to not use the battery case cap and for this price it is disappointing.

only downside about the g700/g700s is battery life for wireless use

This is a big downside. Is the cable of the s model as stiff as the non s model? Cause the cable of my non s model was so stiff that it was quite possibly one of the worst wired mouse i've ever used.

I just replaced my Mamba 2012 by the g602 and i'm totally satisfied. Great mouse. The battery life is around 1 month. Great tracking on all surfaces (including my lazy boy for the few times my bluetooth media keyboard is not around). No lag. Relatively good software (anyway way better than the crap that is Synapse).

Thanks for the replies. So far the sensi mouse looks really nice. I think I may buy that one. I just want to refuse to support razer and I hope they go out of business. Such a horrible company. Though to their credit, maybe every company that makes peripherals is like that. I've only purchased razer products since I was 14 or somewhere in that time line (I'm now 25).

The g700 looked nice as well but I only saw a 5700dpi. I don't want a downgrade as my mamba is currently 6400. Upgrading my mice over the years I have grown spoiled over the higher dpi :) Anyone know if the sensi software is any good? I hate Synapse so much.

EDIT: I just figured out I was looking at newegg.com and not the right logitech mouse. The g700s does look really nice as well. Now I can't decide lol. I don't want to keep it wired so maybe the sensi is better at battery? I'll have to do some more investigation on it.

The cable of the s model is exactly the same like the non s model (source: my nephew had the s model) and if you don't like the stiff cable provided by logitech then get a different microusb cable

The Mamba is a great piece of hardware. It is possibly the best wireless mouse on the market right now imo. The problem is the software *****. All the problems of the mamba from my exp come from the software. I too had lot of problems with my mamba. Lot of random lags. Mouse not working until unpluged and pluged again. osd not working half the time. Software crashing making the mosue works as a plug and play mouse until the software was closed and started again manually.

But the mouse strangely was working perfectly as a plug and play mouse. When Synapse was not installed the mouse did not lag ever. It was always working. Absolutely no problem as a plug and play mouse. But well as a plug and play mouse thedpi was stuck at the default value and could not be changed. Also all the other settings could not be changed either which resulted in a lower battery life when not gaming.

Anyway sadly razer makes crap software.

    • I hope this encodes in to AV1 or AV2 as currently tiktok uses h265 and h264.
    • Qualcomm reportedly in talks to build custom video chips for TikTok parent ByteDance by Karthik Mudaliar Qualcomm is reportedly in advanced discussions to provide custom chip-design services to Chinese tech giant ByteDance, the same company behind TikTok. According to a report from Reuters, Qualcomm could be involved in designing custom silicon tailored for ByteDance's massive data-center workloads. If it goes through, the deal would make ByteDance one of Qualcomm's early anchor customers for its fastly growing custom chip-design division, For years, Qualcomm was the king of making smartphone processors and modems. The company has also been moving into the PC ecosystem and other formats such as on-device AI for Android XR headsets. However, this particular deal is about Qualcomm's custom Application-Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICs). For a platform like TikTok, ByteDance needs hardware that can help it ingest, process, and serve billions of short-form videos daily. Generalised hardware is no longer the most cost-effective and efficient route, which is why ByteDance is trying to develop custom Video Processing Units (VPUs). VPUs designed specifically for ByteDance’s algorithmic needs could drastically reduce data-center power consumption and improve encoding speeds at an unprecedented scale. The underlying tech behind these processors is actually from Qualcomm's recent acquisition of AlphaWave Semi, a high-speed connectivity specialist company. By combining AlphaWave’s high-bandwidth IP with Qualcomm’s architectural expertise, the company could begin mass production by the end of 2026, if the talks go through. All this also comes at a time when U.S.-China tech relations have dwindled. Escalating trade frictions between Washington and Beijing have severely impacted the export of high-end AI chips from U.S. firms like Nvidia, AMD, and Lam Research. Yet, the Qualcomm-ByteDance discussions show that U.S. tech companies are still actively seeking growth avenues and are open to doing business with China, where regulators still permit. Reuters notes that the outcome of this deal could be uncertain, and ByteDance might also seek partners other than Qualcomm. via Reuters | Image via DepositPhotos.com

    • I wonder how driving laws around the world will change. No way to really tell if people are using phone. Same with smart watches i guess even now and those silly built in tablets for controlling the car instead of buttons.
